Think they will ever get around to making ii work well? I could have swore there was a DEV post some time ago saying they were working on making EVE Voice better, however I've never seen anything since then.

I use it all the time and never had any problems with it.
My fleets are usually under 10 people though, so i don't know if that makes a difference.

I'm getting pretty ****ed off with the supposedly hard core PvPers complaining about every little thing that gets changed. seriously, more tears than carebears.

Well there is no ability to adjust individuals volumes for starters which can really suck. You get some people that are real quiet then others are real loud.
On the Apple client EVE voice is horrible. It always gets garbled on both input and out put making it hard to use.
This issue is not limited to just the Apple as I've had the same issue on the PC, just not as often. I know it's not just me because while in Militia fleets others get the same issues.

I belive that the loudness of mic can be adjusted from windows xp, vista and 7.

The loudness for my self, can of course be adjusted. However there is no control over each person in channel and their volume level, which causes issues when you have one person whom is coming in much louder than everyone else.

Then yell at said person to sort his mic out. QED.
BTW, Teamspeak doesn't let you adjust the levels of other people either.

To be honest, if you've got a guy in your fleet who is unwilling to adjust his own volume, he's worth kicking. Cos he's gonna be a PITA when the missiles start flying. Synex Oursulaert Industries

Same. And yes, the first time someone joins voice with a group there's a little bit of volume callibration that needs to happen. It's quick and easy. ~ Santiago Fahahrri Galactic Geographic |

none of the push to talk keys work in eve voice for me for some reason.
I've tried a different key and none will activate push to talk. I can hear but can't talk.
Also after joining voice for few minutes it wont let me leave.
If I click to leave the voice, I can still hear them and I have to restart the eve client to stop it.
So at least for me, no push to talk works, and once I join the eve voice channel I can't leave it, it shows visually that I leave yet I continue to hear the voice until I restart.
so I don't ever use it.

I can confirm that EVE Voice works fine for small amounts of people. However it's not really worth anything much because when EVE (client or node itself) crashes you lose your voice comms as well so good luck coordinating logging back in etc. A further problem is that it seems to be problematic with larger fleets and starts breaking up and having very low quality as soon as there are 100+ people in channel.
But the main drawback is that there is no standalone client - like I said 3 months before it was implemented.
So why even implement a voice chat that has more drawbacks then TS/vent and no advantages?

The problem for Mac, I believe, is more of an issue with the Cider wrapper than with EVE Voice itself. It's working perfectly fine, for me, but will over time develop some rather severe self-echoing both on incoming and outgoing sound. It came as a part of the upgraded sound engine in Apocrypha, and since the main work on the wrapper for that update was to get premium graphics going, the sound engine – and making sure the changes in the engine worked — might not have been at the focus of their attention ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |
