Usually when an organization puts on an event, the events get better and better due to this strange phenomenon called experience.
For CCP's Alliance Tournament however, "technical" issues have continuously plagued the matches this year, making them appear to be run by total newbies. Now either the folks running the tournament this year are indeed total newbies or the person in charge has fallen asleep on the job.
Something needs to be done. The tourney is a PR event and I keep having to tell my friends watching that it is a real CCP event, not something thrown together at the last minute with equipment fished out of dumpsters.

Atropos has been pretty amazingly great, sexy commentary in text form today <3
Claw's kinda failing (among other things he hasn't sent me my 2 bil back yet LIKE HE PROMISED, DIRTY LIAR!) Mindstar's awesome as always. <3 StevieSG Soundwave's also been great, hasn't lost his touch at making people damp from across the room at all.
The technical issues today were unrelated to tournament, was just market not working, and they sorted it in about an hour (including a reboot, which isn't bad really)
I've quite liked the GMs working at teleporting / instructing too, they've been fun.

Sure.

Ya the audio problems are getting fairly sad. It's almost like every match 1 of the commentators drop. What are they using? Eve voice or something? So sad.

Actually if you've seen like the qualifying stuff for olympics and such. It can get bad. I dunno.

Ya I liked that. Atropos typing with details like " Jimbob in the megathron for newballiance is in half armor" I dont think the commentators should necessarily say the pilot's names... except "The megathron(or one of the megathons) from newb alliance going into half armor. The oneiros is trying to rep him but the dps is just toooo much"
It really compliments each other that way.
The rest of the stuff is more behind the scenes. ------------------------ To make a megathron from scratch, you must first invent the eve universe. ------------------------ Life sucks and then you get podded. |

Yeah, putting on a tournament like this is so easy. You would think they would have it running perfect along with the server

The technical issues are out of our hands, and the specific things that cause them have nothing to do with the alliance tournament, or the way it is being run.
TQ crashing is hardly anything the tournament staff can do anything about, and EVE voice which last year worked flawlessly, isn't something we control either.
I can guarantee you that the people who are most frustrated with it is the tournament staff, and we'll keep doing everything we can to keep this experience as smooth as possible.

Go back and watch AT1, then AT2 and so on until you finish watching the end of AT6. If you cant see the improvements from tournament to tournament then you cant be helped.
I think each year the running of the tournament has improved, especially in the field of the broadcasting interface. Keep in mind there are more and more teams and participants each year, more variability in ships/setups and they still manage to run a smooth and open tournament. I will agree in the area of the commentary, which goes up and down year to year as the commentators are invited players and mostly change every year.

They need to either ban Ryash Nhya from ever commenting on anything pvp related on TQ - either that or get him layed before matches because that excited teen voice ****es me off. --- I smack just for myself.

Boohoo, technical issues. I will still apply. I will still fly. I will still pay $15 USD each month for the best game on the internet.
