Just bought Season One last night while at the store (was supposed to buy food, but meh) and cannot stop watching it. I had heard it was good, but I had no idea it was THIS GOOD. This kicks the crap out of every other vampire-y thing out there, because it seems so realistic-modern setting, average people (sorta), gritty and has dark humor, and the fact that the vampires actually look like real people (minus the occasional wierd clothes and the fangs) and not ***gy sparkly vampires that have "the skin of monsters". Also, the lead male character actually appears to bathe.
<3 the theme song too.
Anyone else?

It starts off quite nicely, goes into a bit of a lull and some feet-dragging later on, then it gets better again.
It's a good bit better than a lot of other shows available right now.
Still has a few "wha'?" and/or "/facepalm" moments though (especially of the "dumb brother" and "crazy black friend" variety).

Yeh I'm loving it as is the wife; watching Season One on FX channel in UK (Virgin). I love the way they've created this whole alternative reality that slowly seeps through to you every episode, eg. no-one is really racist or homophobic as all dislike has been sucked up (heh) by the vampires. Also good that it's not stuffed full of beautiful plastic model actors. Top quality!

Season 2 got a little slow in the middle, especially that one episode that was nothing but filler. Though Bill's hilarious dialogue does not disappoint...
"I will throw you through a window. THAT IS CLOSED!!!!!" (He even says the run-on bit as it's written here)

Meh, it's the latest and I'll still watch it but I miss the vampire clans of the Masquerade. This is turning into just a whole lot of sex to fill out the plot and frankly I'm not that starved, that easily amused or turned on by the leading lady. The redhead on the other hand...
It's a good thing Sons of Anarchy kicked off their second season since my interest in True Blood is waning.

I prefer watching plot unfold rather than having fantastic stuff put in just to boost ratings.
Paquin might be hot in Fattown USA but over here she's just average and would disappear in a crowd.

I like True Blood!
I liked the "Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter" books too. They're pretty similar, but Anita is older and the first 8 books were way better than the Sookie ones.
Both books however are blatently based off of Vampire: the Masquerade LARPs. If you've ever played in one, you know what I mean. The only cute girl in the mob of players is the one dating the GM and is the one playing the human with the wonky powers that no one else could dream of getting. "Anita" and "Sookie" are exactly that kind of character.
Still....it's good to be the GM.

i might watch it when she has finished with them she;s half way through now i am kinda lost.
shes read all of the books so this was a must for her.

Yes as Captain Kikaz said - I'm half way through the first season - lovin it so far! Read all the books and I am hooked with vamps!!
Just watched episode 6 last night and was  at all the sex!! I knew the books were raunchyish but holy moly (thats the real reason Kikaz wants to watch) :P

wife loves it.
I sorta enjoyed part of the first season. Then just lost interest.
I think the entrance of a satanesque character kinda did it for me.

I thought only two of them had beards, and only one of those is fat. Plus, last week he was alternating legs to stick his face between; the blond or the redhead? 
Besides, of course he would rather watch even your skiewed view of SOA. Its better than verion 1,354,367.09 of the emo/shiney/pale/angsy never endeing train of vampire interpretations.
