Forgive me if this has been posted before but I could not find any reference to it using the search function. I just completed the missions related to part 1 of the Amarr Epic Arc (The Right to Rule). I took a look at Eve Survival and it indicates that there is a mission that requires using a codebreaker that requires the hacking skill to progress. Can I assume that since I do not have hacking and have no plans to obtain it anytime soon that there is no point in continuing the Epic Arc? Can the Epic Arc be completed without hacking or have I just wasted my time going through Part 1? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Just ask someone else to do it if you cannot. I ran both missions in quick succession. It wont be much of their time taken. Most people will read this thinking it's part of my post, when its actually my sig :P

I think your agent will give you a "Civilian Codebreaker"

I didn't realize you could have another person perform the "codebreaking" for you. I'll have to scout around to see if I can find someone to help me with that.
I know the epic arcs don't expire, and I should have checked Eve Survival beforehand but it's just a pain that after doing approximately 48 missions grinding up Ministry of Internal Order rep that I'm stuck now because the mission requires 1 very specific skill (with significant pre-requisites) that no other mission in the game requires to complete. It would be nice to have more than one way to complete a mission without fitting a "cookie-cutter" mold.

Do you need hacking 5 for the epic arc? Or is it enough to be able to use a code breaker?

Just need minimum skill to use a standard codebreaker. You might encounter plenty of failed attempt, but keep at it.

If you are on when I am (UK evenings), send me a chat invite or something. If I am not too far away I will strap a codebreaker onto a frig and hack it for you.
However, be careful who you get to do this for you as once the can has been hacked, anyone can take its contents. You may find yourself on the expensive end of an item ransom.

Not really sure about the Amarr Epic Arc, but Hacking IV seems fine for the Minmatar Epic Arc. I only got a couple of failed attemps, and I don't have any hacking rigs on my ship.
In the Minmatar Epic Arc, there are also a significant number of archeological sites that need to be explored, so the Archeology skill is also required.

Edited by: Kirzath on 15/09/2009 14:47:14 The Sansha branch of the Amarr Arc has a part where you need Hacking V: a corpmate with Hacking IV recieved a notification that his skill wasn't high enough.

I would think that a hacking rig, mounted on a frig, should more than compensate for lack of the Hacking V skill. Each hacking skill level only improves your chance of hacking by 5%, but the Memetic Algorithm Rig increases your chances of hacking by 20%.
Of course, you have to have the skills to use electronic rigs. Frig size hacking rigs a not generally expensive, and there are no negative side effects to the use of electronic rigs.

Indeed, that's what I did. Took me a week and a half, but now I have hacking trained.

I can hack it for you.
That is all I will do, though. It's up to you to make sure everything is dead before I jump in.
Contact me in game and if I'm anywhere nearby, I will hop over and help out
