Only reason I ask this is because recently with a bit of an investment in certain area's of my Eve character I have been making suprisingly a larger amount of Isk.
I just wanted to see if it was the fact that I invested in certain things thats caused me to start making good money?
Thanks
1. It used to be 0.0 ratting out in Fade or Venal depending on the time period. Now it's L4s for Brutor.
2. At the moment? Very little. I have a decent chunk of cash for someone who doesn't go out an do PVP often and is solo, so I don't grind L4s every time I'm on. I'm even picky about what L4s I'll do (couriers are rejected pretty much by default, and some kill missions are on my won't-usually-bother list).
3. Solo. I can't actually remember the last time I did anything with anyone else in EVE.
4. In my old ratting days, not particularly. It doesn't -have- to, anyway. I used an Armag / Apoc out in Fade, and an Astarte out in Venal (blaster setup, and I used Void ammo, too. Yay for ISK-non-efficiency). These days I run L4s in my Nightmare, so yes that was a pricey investment, but again it doesn't have to be. I could be running the missions in a ship that costs a tenth as much. Theoretically. I'd probably need quite a bit more SP to do it than what I have now; a perma-tanked (yes I permatanked it - and I also use pulses. Stop crying >.>) Nightmare is, with some exceptional circumstances now and then, easy mode.
So let me ask you, what do you do, and in what areas did you 'invest' to be making substantially larger amounts of ISK compared to prior? *** Awake in a Space-Dye Vest Struggling with Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence Falling Into Infinity toward a New Millennium While trapped inside this Octavarium. |

1 - You main occupation in Eve? Pirate/mission*****/t2 inventor/lolalchemy (what I like this game)
2 - How much on average over a 5 hour playing time do you make in ISK? It depends what I do during that time period. If I am mission whoring about 100-150 mill (1-2 hours mission running, 3-4 hours ship spinning and bsing in chat) T2 invention: I would have to calculate but I would say i make some isk. lolalchemey: lol no Pirate: I pvp for fun but I made 122 mill this week normally it is somewhere around zero because I really don't care about isk.
3 - Solo or group based? yup
4 - Did it require an investment in a large amount of money to achive your now regular income? yup

1. salvage theifing missions in order to make someone mad enough to shoot me, then killing them.
2. lets say for a minute that i do not do any sort of bait and switch, that i had no interest in killing the mission runners whose missions i may invade. and that i dont, then, get their fittings or their ransoms. let us forget all that. if i just salvaged peoples missions nonstop in 5 hours id expect to have gained 100m. with little risk, little risked, and risque women.
3. ill answer your question with a question. do you have friends?
4. to be a salvage thief? not at all. to kill them may require more than 2 brain cells and some mealeyons of sp.

1 - T1 ship/T2 mod producer/moon miner and reactor - all in 0.0
2 - Hard to measure via time in this manner, as its all about a return on investment at this point. But, if I collect a bunch of mins from throughout Delve, push button to build, then put on market, it all takes at most 30 minutes with a freighter and I get at least 50 - 100 mil in profit from it. T2 takes way less time. Moon mining gets me roughly 500m a month profit for about 3 hours of work a month.
3 - solo
4 - Holy **** ya. I've got a bil isk and a bil on market at a time, and feel cramped for isk. And the moon mining setup was 1.5 bil in hardware with a monthly fuel bill of 350m isk. And T2 production is a little SP intensive (although not all that bad).
Hope that helps (or at least makes people jealous). Although I'm a strange person who actually enjoys spreadsheets and managing production and managing POS (sorta).

PVP/Trading
Over 5 hours? Depends on how active I am, If at the pc roaming enemy space, I'll usually have 60/70 Mil of salvage to show for it (Map+Statistics= godsend) plus the spoils of my kills. But due to RL I haven't been anywhere near as active as I'd like.
Trading nets about 80 Mil a day at about 30% average profit margin, Which takes about 10 mins in the morning, and 10 before bed.

Edited by: Mahke on 17/09/2009 03:04:32 Edited by: Mahke on 17/09/2009 03:04:12 1) I mission and trade to get isk; usually at the same time
2) Massive variance, so this is hard to say. Maybe 50 mil / hour or so, dunno. Thats a combination of mission and trading profits, with the majority from missions.
3) Solo
4) yes. Standings grind and about a billion isk for missions (you don't need to pimp marauders/faction BS, but you do need to buy the hull). For trading, breakpoints are at about 1bil, 3bil, and 5bil (that is, you're profit per each additional isk at work drops significantly at each breakpoint)
I used to make more but trade income has become harder and harder to get well because of all the people who have been flooding into it. If I wasn't doing other stuff at the same time I wouldn't bother anymore.

Solo.

Depends on your definition of 'large'. A Golem, plus some CN equipment acquired by LP.
See this thread for more detail.

1: Mehh, everything and nothing really.
2: Not a whole lot, and if i do make some i spend more than i gain mostly
3: Solo/Group...Shipspinning is done solo.
4: Well considdering i spent a whole lot of iskies and am still barely holding on to a wallet, i'd say i've invested as much as i've gained over the years....and still not making any kind of noteworthy profit. ___________

1. Wormholer / mission runner / ratter / explorer. Also have an alt learning the ropes on T2 / T3 production.
2. It varies though maybe averages out at around 150m when mission running a bit less from the worm holing and the exploration is too difficult to analyse. I don't take a cut from the T2 stuff as it's all corp based and there's no way I'd have been able to afford to have gotten into it without going mad doing L4s.
3. Mainly solo for the mission running, everything else tends to be group based.
4. Once I could do L4s I worked my arse off to put together a couple of well fit Abaddons, I also stumped up a 100m investment for our wormhole POS, though the activity in the worm hole has allowed it to be upgraded and kitted out way beyond anything we initially hoped for.
