Price is not always an accurate indicator of which module is better. Sometimes a module that isn't as good is significantly more expensive because: A) It has lower skill requirements to use B) It has lower fitting requirements C) Both A) & B)
This is true of many faction / high meta items compared to their T2 equivalent

Don't forget the fact that you have to go to ORE space (Outer Ring, 0.0) and do missions out there. Thus, the amount of people getting the LP necessary for these faction items is much smaller than those getting items from Caldari Navy, which drives the value of the LP up considerably. _____________________________________________

in most cases 99.9% its because the high meta faction gear uses T1 fitting requirements and gives T2 if not near T2 performance i think this is kind of the case with the ORE ... well that and the fact as was said you hvae to go out into ORE space to earn it.

Doesn't matter where you have to go or what you you have to do to earn it. That only affects the rarity of the item, and thus only affects the price IF there is a demand.
What she's wondering is why there is a demand (so what is better about them), which you guys otherwise answered.

Actually...she sorta asked about the price...

Thus an explanation of why the price is high other than performance is necessary.

Edited by: Marcus Gideon on 17/09/2009 16:21:28 The key problem with this thread is that first question. "Which is better" will never get a straight answer, because everything in EVE is variable and subjective.
My take...
T2 strips with crystals will have a better yield, meaning you're bringing in more ISK per hour.
ORE strips have greater range, which means less moving about to get in range of rocks.
If you have enough boosts, either by way of ORE Implants (Harvest), ORE Strips, Orca boost, etc... you can mine out an entire belt from the initial arrival point. |

So all in all ORE strip miners dont seem to be worth their cost as you will still make more money if you just use your T2 modulated miners over the ORE ones with more range.
If per say the ORE miners were given some kind of bounes other than just range I could see them being worth the effort to get.

it really depends on how you want to use it. For Example....
Range: Orca bonuses + Hulks hitting everything in the belt from one location currently I get 22km out of my strips (I use T1 becuase I strip belts, and running 5 hulks (15 lasers) gets annoying switching out crystals....
Yield: If you use crystals, and working with high yield roids, the ore strip isn't really gonna be all that useful.
It just depends on which is more valuable. For me personally the range would be preferable, for others the yield may be. I don't use either becuase ORE's are a waste of isk imo. I can move the mining fleet when neccessary. Tech 1 Strips are just fine for me. But again it's up to each person.
Also ORE Strips are hard to get becuase they can only be bought with LP in the Outer Ring Region of 0.0... which is also next to fountain, cloud ring, and syndicate... So trying to run missions out there is a little tough. That;s what really drives up their price.
