Need for speed - running into problems with reports that totals all isk takes 30+ min to finish and restarting it few times to finish. The Asset report takes forever to finish, I haven't done that for awhile. This is on Quad core, so I wished there some way speed up these reports are done.

The speed of those reports is mostly limited by the calculation of item values.
If it hasn't been recalculated for a while then it means a couple of database queries and then possibly a trip to eve-central or eve-metrics to get pricing data. That's where the slowness comes from, not a lot I can do about it without also making it less accurate I'm afraid.
Do you have a lot of assets? I have thousands scattered across many systems and it still only takes a couple of minutes max (this is on a dual core E6400) --------------------------------------

Yep its the income statement - but its not limited to contracts. I have one character that all he does is buy and sell on behalf of the corp
Report 1 Corporation only Market Transactions 14,109,154,743
Report 2 Corporation and Character Market Transactions 27,266,349,849
Note I have other characters that sell for the corp so report 2 is not double report 1 but its close

Thanks for the extra info. I'm afraid there is no fix yet. Although I have looked at it.
It's just far more complicated than it appears. I remember looking at it last time and deciding to leave it. However, now I've got a little more time on my hands, I'll take another look.
Having said that, getting a fix that actually resolves the problem without causing more issues is going to require some time and some serious thought. --------------------------------------

I can appreciate that - I have written a quick VB app not undertanding c#) to do the job and ended up with 4 queries to build the data

Last update seems to want sql 2008 running on your system, at least mine would not run with 2005 (which it did just fine prior to the update). Unfortunately installing sql 2008 seems to be a major pain, and im still working on getting it running

Edit:
So far i have - uninstalled sql 2005 - installed sql 2008 - installed sp1 for sql 2008 - uninstalled EMMA - installed EMMA
it still wont connect to database
(thats on a win 7 x64 system)
I'm having the same problem, same OS.
offtopic, that microsoft web install interface is crap.

It does now require SQL 2008, yes. (I knew this would be a headache...)
I actually tested this with both clean installs and old EMMA/SQL 2005 installs on both Win XP and Win 7. In ALL cases, I had no problems whatsoever so I had hoped that this would not be a traumatic change.
Have you tried the quick fixes mentioned in the version history and installer readme.txt files? (i.e. deleting those directories, checking the account being used to run SQL, etc)

Point 2 in the readme.txt did the trick
2) Delete the following folder: Windows Vista: C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server Data\SQLEXPRESS Windows XP: c:\Documents and Settings\[user]\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server Data\SQLEXPRESS You may have to stop and restart the SQL EXPRESS service (through control panel -> administrative tools -> services)
All seems to be working fine now

One major question, can i still use my 'old' (2005 sql) data? or do i need to start fresh (again)?

I know this is a pain, however the datadump what CCP is releasing is in SQL 2008 format, which is as well a pain to transfer to 2005 format. So from my point it's a good move. :)

Yes indeedy, 2008 will just auto-convert your old 2005 databases to 2008 format, you won't even realise it happening.
The only difference is that the active database files are no longer kept in the program files directory (or wherever you installed it) Instead, they'll live in %appdata%/emma/data

Exactly, it was making things difficult for us so I figured it was time to make 2008 a requirement. Plus 2008 seems much more stable and the installation process in particular is less prone to screw ups. --------------------------------------

You know I was sitting here thinking about it.
I was wondering if it was possible to just add a small button on the journal that when clicked would search for SenderID='1000132' and TypeID='42'. Then have it look through the journal entries for that character and fill in the character RecieverID?
It looks the the journal of the current character and searches for the SenderID='1000132' and TypeID='42'. Then if the RecieverID is blank it puts in the ID for the journals owner. I realize it might take a while on large journals, but it's a temp fix until CCP fixes the API.
ANyway, not a programmer here and it was just a thought.

For instance, I want to see what I did yesterday total and not include the current day.
Just a idea/thought.
This is another one that is far more difficult than it sounds. I couldn't think of a way around it without completely redesigning how the report works. That was a long time ago though so I'll have another think about it...
Version 1.4.1.5 Beta is now available.
- Corrected a bug that caused that list of characters available on an account to not be updated in the report group setup screen (Where you choose eve accounts, characters and corps to be included in a group).
- Corrected a bug in the autocontractor that detected an infinite loop when there wasn't one. (Issue 31 on the google project page).
- Added some notifications that make it clearer what's going on when the autocontractor rejects contracts because they don't meet some criteria.

Having a problem with retrieving API information on 'journal'.
I got an account where I linked 2 chars together. They are both on a different Eve account.
One of them updates the journal fine, the other char always get's an error on the journal update. "EVE API error. Code 0. A general error has occured, please try again later.".
Been that way ever since I installed EMMA.
My questions: 1) can I fix this and if yes, how? 2) how does this affect functionality? Are my items reports still accurate for instance? Or Income reports?

Actually, this problem is due to an error in the Eve API.
The journal API retrieves the last 1000 journal entries. If you have more than 1000 journal entries in one week then you can retrieve another 1000 until you get to at least one week ago. This works by the calling application (i.e. EMMA) supplying a 'beforeRefID' parameter. The API then returns journal entries before that ID.
This worked fine until CCP changed the journal ID from 32 bit to 64 bit. Unfortunately, they forgot to change the beforeRefID parameter to 64 bit as well. Consequently, every retrieval after the first now always fails.
TLDR You can get the most recent 1000 journal entries but not more. The error just indicates that trying to get more than the most recent 1000 has failed.

I suppose you've bug-reported this? Any response from CCP?
Also, thanks for this tip:
Quote: 1) Ensure that the following setting is correct: Start -> Programs -> SQL 2008 -> Config -> config manager. SQL Server Services -> SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) -> Properties -> Change login to use 'Local System'
After uninstalling 2005 and installing 2008 on windows 7 it was set to 'network login'. I suspect I might have avoided this if I'd attempted an upgrade, but I just wanted a clean install. --- 34.4:1 mineral compression |

I doubt, as you can have sql 2005, and 2008 next to each other. I don't think that during the install it gives you the option to upgrade.

This is the exact message I get with the newest version and SQL 2008:
"EMMA is unable to connect to the database. Please try restarting if the problem persists then more detail can be found in logging/ExceptionLog.txt."
I changed SQL Express in Properties to log in to local system, like you said, Ambo. ♦♦♦♦♦

I personally haven't but plenty of others have. There was a thread in the tech lab about it a while back. I assume it's on CCP's to do list.
