So I just want to clairify the skill salvaging for myself...For each level in this skill I just get a better chance to actually get salvage from the wreck or is it that that I will just have a better chance for it to complete and tell me that their was nothing to get from it....Sorry for the newb question im just now getting into this area of the game.

The higher your level in Salvaging, the more likely it is to complete.
As an aside, I don't understand why people get so worked up about finding nothing. As I see it, there are three results from a cycle salvage:
- We're still looking
- We've looked and found something useful
- We're looked and found nothing worth taking
Given that the ship has just been blown up and is now mostly small bits and pieces that will pass through a fine sieve, is it surprising that you get result 3?

One last thing: if you use a Salvager I, you get 5% per level of salvaging skill chance to access the salvage (if any) in the wreck. If you use a Salvager II (requires Salvaging V) you get 7% per level instead, a total of 35% chance. The descriptions are misleading. Some wrecks (sleepers, officers, and commanders typically) have penalties to access chances, and can make it impossible for you to salvage. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

Finally, you CAN use two or more salvagers on the same wreck! It doesn't increase your chance. So one salvager at 15%, two will not make your chances 30%. But you'll have two chances at 15% (just like if you ran one salvager twice).

This is one of the most confusing parts of Eve
Salvaging 5 and T2 salvagers allow you a very quick salvage, so you really dont need 2 on.
Salvaging 1 = takes very long time to get loot 3= about a 4-5 cycle chance 5w/T2 = average 2 cycle per wreck.
Just quicker with the same loot. Though i have noticed that if you get loot QUICKER you can get MORE per HOUR. You dont get MORE per WRECK, but you get MORE per HOUR if that makes sense.

I have to admit... I love the T2 salvagers :D --

I've always thought that T2 Salvagers just gave me a flat 2% bonus, not a 2% bonus per skill level.

Fit a normal Salvager I to your ship. Then do a Show Info on the salvager module. You'll see something like:
Access Difficulty Bonus: 25%
That's assuming you have Salvaging V. You get 5% per level. If you had Salvaging IV and 3 Salvage Tackle I rigs (which is what I used to have on my old Salvagecane) it would have been 50% (20% for Salvaging IV, plus 10% for each rig). I now have Salvaging V, and my 'cane in hi-sec shows 65% on the salvagers. I get 35% from the base salvager, plus 10% for each rig. You get 7% per level of skill with a Salvager II. Since you must have Salvaging V just to use it, that's a total 10% increase over a regular Salvager I. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

They do two things: they have 1km more range over the T1 version, and they have a 10% bonus over Salvager Is (it's only a 2% bonus per level, but since you need level V it's effectively a 10% bonus over the T1s).

I don't mind so much finding nothing. It's when I just finished something like angel extravaganza, looted and salvaged down to the last wreck...
and sit on it for 10 minutes of constant failures, only to finally salvage it...
and get nothing.

/thread However, you might want to consider a few things, first of all; I now have one of those annoying sigs. second; you should probably move on to some more interesting things than reading this sig.
