Seems better than most of your earlier stuff, even though it's still form over function.
It's "tier" btw.

Fixed,
Plenty of function here. Ionized attenas (some neat little thing the airforce came up with thats emp proof) and glass domed observatories.
I mean if it really any additonal form away from function I would have drawn star trek ships instead. Pre-order your Sisters of ≡v≡ Exploration ship today, Updated 1SEP09

Your ships are always pretty or cute but they never look like something that belongs in EVE.

The Traveler is very cute. The other two are okay, if a bit bland. -----

I don't know why people bash your designs so much, (Lack of artistic talent themselves, or someone you ticked off, I'd imagine.) I rather enjoy them, the first two very much look like ships that fit in eve. The third somehow looks like one from another game. (Can't quite place it.)

In my case at least, i wasn't critical of the whole design, just the colors.
The worst thing you can do for an artist is to just blindly support them because you want to be nice. It helps to share your true opinions. That doesn't apply to using vague insulting words, though.

That's the worst excuse EVER when peoplpe get bad critics, next to "you're just jealous". If we couldn't critic people with better talent then ourselves, who'd be able to throw bad critics at a rock band? Who here would really be able to bash Britney Spears? I mean, she can sing, I just don't like what she's singing.
To OP: Looks good,e xcept the colors, they do not fit anywhere. You should check up colorschemes in EVE and repaint it. Tone down the blue, and darken the white, they shoudl look like ship in EVE, not Apollo XIII

Edited by: Nova Fox on 21/09/2009 09:13:48 Few things
I skipped the usual eve details on purpose, trying to focus more on form and shape than working on those nitpicks that makes eve ships definetly eve, it takes alot more effort for probably less effect, trying to find the 'eve' balance on the level of detail would require alot more studing of eve's styles and source artwork (which there isnt to much of existing out there saddly) So trying to find the balance between minimalist effort and eve's LOD is a learning experince.
This is the first series of ships where I use variances of light and shade to give form definition. This is a vastly greater improvment over my previous 'paint it straight' efforts which one work took far more actual work time than these combined. For coloring its a rather simpler task now, laying down flats and setting them to overlay the existing formed shape it wraps around very nicely and conforms to the shapes already established, recolors are simple as getting the spill bucket tool and changing the tones.
The blue and white color selection was used to promote a 'peaceful; mindset, though there are various colors that can just as easily promote this they didnt seem that proper for an amarr related ship most of the time. But since you asked heres a few other variations on colors. But as I explained earlier changing colors is now a snap a very simple process instead of the wrist breaking procedure it was before.
I did all of these in 20 minutes Alternative Paint Jobs Gallente Desert Rose Sea Breeze Purposed Tech 2 Paint job(I hate this one now that I stumbeled upon the Desert Rose one) And Unpainted
And yes they're quick repaints which is why some of the bucketing failed. Pre-order your Sisters of ≡v≡ Exploration ship today, Updated 1SEP09

epeen stroking would mean I would be placing myself in a position of superiority, I clearly havent done that, Im just a hobbiest trying to learn stuff of the professionals and I have ways to go. I am alot further along than I was two years ago and I hope I can continue to keep learning. Pre-order your Sisters of ≡v≡ Exploration ship today, Updated 1SEP09

The teal paint looks far better in my opinion, I think it's just the stark contrast which makes them a bit of a shock to look at at first, takes some time for the eyes to adjust. I find the paler and cooler colour tones are that much more effective.
Some nice stuff as always Nova.

Edited by: SomeHardLovin on 21/09/2009 20:32:34 Nice work :) I do have some suggestions however:
1) Try and remain in keeping with the feel of EVE ships. White and blue are just the wrong colours to pick. EVE is a game of darker colours.. more militaristic and more in keeping with your race's chosen colours. Minmatar are dark, brown, and look like they are cobbled together from scram. Caldari are battleship grey, carry military numbering and markings and generally look like "official" Navy ships.. etc. The colours you have chosen feel a bit too "Space Ace" and less EVE.
2) Try to build ships in keeping with your race's outlook on the universe. I suggest reading the description of the Sisters of EVE. Are they warlike? Are they traders? Are they practical? Religious? I'm pretty sure Pink is the wrong way to go.. but are they all female? I'm sure there are hints in their BIO that will give you some direction.
Thats it! You obviously have talent.. keep it up :) ---

Pretty good, Not a big fan of the Nacelles on the Tier 3 ship, Also blue and white might be better toned down to a light grey or gunmetal, and a Dark navy blue. EVE isn't usually there for bright colors.

SOE are one of the very few charitable organizations within eve, they offically have no ships in existence of thier own, they oftenly use amarrian ships instead as they're closely aligned to that race but have enough differences to be kept seperate from them and thier religous belifes (they're like the scientologist of eve beliving in evidence before beliving in something they have no evidence of) but they're open minded enough to all races and oftenly are respected by everyone, including most of the more natiorus pirate factions such as the cybernetic zombie people of the Sansha Nation.
Most ships they do use are oftenly for diplomatic, charity, and exploration. So finding a balance between tough enough looks to survive the harsh world of eve and what they could do in the ships was albit challenging. Previous designs I made for these ships where considerably to 'flimsy' to survive in eve, so I compacted the design from those original ones clipped the fins off and tried to reinstall sensory equipment on the hull such as the observatories (the glass domes) on the said ships and the ionized attenas (glowing bars.)
And as much as I hate the series, the third hull was a throwback to star trek, because they where supposed to be explorers might as well use something similar and that influental in the science fiction realm to instill that idea.
SOE's outlook depends who you ask in the organization, some see everyone as sheep to be hearded, others see them as guinenly people who need help, and I think a few do oppose those that go about destroying the past for influence.
These ships are civillian similar to the ORE mining barges. I felt that since they're science classed ships they can afford asetics over function easily as crew would probably feel more at home in something that looks nice than something that looks effective (tbh most of the crew should be the ones making the ship effective)
No SOE isnt all female, they just have alot of space nuns. Your right pink isnt the way to go but smooth paler colors should be th eway to go. I picked blue and white because they're typically colors not associated with war it just seems I put on the paint to thickly on most of them. Should have picked colors more faded than what I have currently. Pre-order your Sisters of ≡v≡ Exploration ship today, Updated 1SEP09
