I bought a laser crystal off the market with the intent of reprocessing it and selling the raw materials, since the sell price was nearly 100k ISK less than the amount I could make from selling the raw materials.
Only I couldn't reprocess it. I am assuming, perhaps incorrectly, that I can't reprocess it because it has been used. I did some research and found that you can't reprocess mining crystals once they've been used. The crystal I am trying to reprocess is NOT a mining crystal, but in the absence of contrary information, I am assuming that the same holds true for laser crystals.
Assuming that I have correctly identified the problem, how can I check to see how much a crystal has been "used" before putting my ISK down?
If I have not correctly identified the problem, can someone tell me why I can't reprocess a laser crystal? It's a large Tech II advanced laser crystal.

Faction and T2 laser crystals decay when they are used (like mining crystals) and cannot be reprocessed afterwards, nor sold on the market, just contracts.
You can see how damaged a crystal is in its info.

You CAN re-process used mining crystals. I do it all the time when they hit 98% damage, so I can recover all the Nocxium and make a new crystal.

So if a crystal is on the market, it is therefore undamaged and should be reprocessable?
So why can't I reprocess this crystal? Do I need a certain level of Scrapmetal Processing or something?

Under what attribute? I have not been able to find it.

Have you loaded the crystal into a weapon and then unloaded it? For faction and T2 crystals that makes it so you can never again "package" and stack the crystal. If its T1 you just have to repackage and you can then reprocess.
Are you sure you're at a station with a reprocessing facility? Are you sure you've got level 1 of Refining trained?
I don't think anything else should be required.

if you bought the crystal off the market then it is new and not used (or a tech 1 crystal)
BUT you need a stack of 4 crystals to be able to reprocess tech 2 laser crystals You're posting again!? Has it really been 5 mins?

Like Manu pointed some(a lot?most?) itens requires a minimun stack to be reprocessed. _ I like to play this game because it make my in-game actions and archievments to mean something in-game. |

No, most items need only one to reprocess them. Because of rounding and waste it's usually better to reprocess them in a stack though, especially if you're after high ends.

How many crystals are you trying to reprocess? I know with hybrid and missiles, you can't reprocess less than 100 units at once. Ralara's banned again so this is my alt :p |

Actualy was a bit of exageration of my part to point that its quite often the case. I find myself reprocessing a lot of ammo/cap booster (and the mopdules end in a stack anyways). But Yes, most itens dont require more then one to reprocess. _ I like to play this game because it make my in-game actions and archievments to mean something in-game. |

Hehe, if it weren't New Players, I probably wouldn't have wasted the five minutes replying.
