Civilian modules are close to worthless IMO...but then again, I'm new and may be missing something that everyone else knows.

I remember using them when I was new to the game, and didn't have the skills to fit even some of the T1 stuff. Back then, I didn't know the game well enough to know how to figure out what skills I needed to train, where to buy them and etc...
Specifically, I remember using the civilian shield boosters extensively until I finally figured out how to fit an armor repairer

I found a contract once for 3 mill isk and a few skillbooks in exchange for a civilian afterburner, so someone uses them, or maybe the pilot putting up the contract just really really likes civ ab's.
Who knows. ------------------------------------------------ You either need a punch up the throat or a good shag.

I have been known to defend the I.C. flying a Navitas equipped with a civilian mining laser, ion cannon, afterburner, shield booster and armor rep.
Can you believe the armor rep costs 900,000 ISK?! Thats about 12x more than the rest of the ship and mods put together

Didnt they discontinue the civilian modules or at leaste some of them? That could explain civilian afterburners going for half a million isk right now. Good thing I bought a couple thousand back when i was a noob for 256isk thinking I could resell them at double the price. Boy was i wrong! *crys* tears of joy

I used a civilian AB when I had next to no PG or CPU left on a cormorant once, it was beneficial to a degree. ____________________ CCP: Catering to the cowards of a cold, harsh universe since November, 2006. |

they were good for learning how modules worked in eve. believe it or not, the idea that ships have modules is a bit complicated to understand when one is new to the game.

Great for new players. When I get friends to sign up I tell them to fit their ships with civilian stuff first...well if I don't send them isk right away :p
