I went to Eve Search earlier today and was attempting to find out information on running missions for either one of the pirate factions. Truth be told, unless there is some old obsolete guide out there, I could not find such. So I prepped up a kessie, updated my clone, and clone jumped outta my implants and made my way to Curse because I checked my map and it indicated that I could run missions for the Angels still.
I did a couple of Lvl 1's and surprisingly enough, no one attempted to kill me. There was a couple of carriers hanging out on station, but other than that, not a whole lot going on.
My main question would probably be: Is it even profitable to run these missions considering what you would have to give up as far as standings?
Considering how easy it is to lose your ship, is this something that is the exclusive domain of huge alliances to keep and farm?
I know because of the relative safety of high-sec, ships are rarely lost if you have read the mission reports, have the skills and are not at war. Hence hi-sec running is so popular. I just wanted to know if the rewards really scale for being willing to take on the very real prospect of that particular toon being banned from hi-sec forever, because he worked for pirate factions.
Thanks again.
PS- I understand that some people might not want to share their secrets and such. I just haven't seen such a guide about it is all.

First can I say, a lot of regions of spaces are quite sparse. Curse especially.
I don't see how it will ban you from hi sec? If you have been carebearing enough in hi sec, done your 2-3 primary faction COSMOS missions and avoid missions that require killing NPCs of that faction. Also have Connections IV and Diplomacy IV (or atleast III) - it will take ALOT to ruin them to the point where you won't be welcome in empire space and to be honest, you will probably never reach that point.
As for saftey in nullsec - running missions and plexs is about a billion times safer than ratting. Because most people who live in nullsec don't run missions, or camp the stations but instead spend their time ratting or mining. Also if you are running a mission or doing a site, you will need to be probed down to be caught in the act. Best tips I can give you is, watch Local like a hawk and if anyone pops watch your Directional scanner for probes.
You can safely avoid getting ganked running a mission or a site in almost 99% of cases - unless they bubble all your exits and station camp you. And if you aren't red to them, why would they? Have a undock safespot and you can undock-instawarp if you want to survey the situation. You can always just safespot hop till they get bored.

Get an AF and a cloak. Now you are fine till you have to do more than Lvl 3s.
Btw, we'll probably not hunt and kill you in Curse, though if you venture into Catch, be advised that you will be shot on sight and will be hunted/camped podded.

Pirate faction mission running is mostly domain of alts or mains with alt support. It also helps if you find some local group of people to join with as while it's relatively easy at lev 1/2 it can be increasingly tricky to survive in later missions where you have to be stationary more than 5 minutes and have ship with lower agility usually. Joining locals often means tho that they might and propably will except you to fight with them to keep the space 'secure' either in the form of being part of fleetblobs or just responding to hostiles reported in intel channels. It really helps if you are part of local blue blob.
It is relatively good isk altho pirate missions in general are a bit more hassle than hi sec ones as you do not get bounties usually but have instead to loot the tags to 'get' the bounties. I have not done the exact math for comparison so far but as tough rule of thumb pirate faction LP is usually worth approx 2x more than main empire factions one. And you will get a lot of it - best missions handing you approx 15 k LP.
Then again if you are already willing to nuke your standings you might want to look at lev 5's for empire factions. Passive nighthawk with fury missiles can do most of them solo in approx hour or so and if you pick good agent (and have multiple alts) you can ask for mission in some next to hi sec system until you get the hi sec one. Up to around 70 000 LP per missions and pile of tags is nothing to sneeze at. Plus you will nuke your standings only with 2 empire factions not all of them.

if you avoid main mission hubs it is generally safe. Even in mission hubs people tend to leave you alone if you don't touch them.

... is plain wrong statement. You are encouraged to not hang about in 2 Empire's hisec, that is all, just cant cloak, go afk or fly a freighter very effectively. :) The world does not end.
And yes, it is 'worth it'. . "Out of the good of evil born, Came Uriel's voice of cherub scorn" |
