Hey all, after a long time of thinking, im deciding to go the PvP route (mainly because I have yet to experience it, and love PvP). I know there are tacklers, logistics, covert ops, Fleet boosters; which is most need and wanted by Corps? In short, i'd rather go either (pure) Logisitics or (pure) Fleet Boosting...
Which of those would you say is most sought after, in the long run? Of course until I can probably fit and fly a Logistics or FC/Fleet Booster, i'll be doing some Frigate and cruiser PvP, but after, which one would you say is most sought after?

Of those two, I'd say that being a competent logi pilot will get you more + in the eyes of corps than having leadership skills trained, especially if you haven't trained tanking skills to fly a commandship in any other way than sitting in a safe out of grid.

Good logistics pilots are always sought after. If you're an excellent Scimitar pilot people will notice very fast, it's an insanely good ship. ___________________

imo you should think about starting out in a tackle role till you learn the ropes in pvp, and its not as painful to lose a ship due to lack of experience.

Tackle. If you like pvp, then go ahead and go logi and boosting.

Logistics is one of the skill paths leading to command ships. So go the logistics route first.
While you're training that, get in a fast frigate and go tackling - most corps will appreciate both your willingness to pitch in as a tackler and your longer term goals. ______________________ Isn't it time you learned to fight back? Agony Unleashed Home of the PvP University.

It¦s the usual start route for PvP. You get to experience thrilling fun in your paper frig without the risk to lose big ISK. This will free up your mind for more learning - being new to PvP in a ship that¦s worth something will only hold you back

Start with tackling. Cheapest to lose, easiest to train for. Get into a few engagements, see what you like and how you like to play before settling on a playstyle.
As you stated you are just entering pvp, and not to subvertly recruit, but I think the best pvp education you can get is to hop into the fight and get shooting. A good way to do this is to sign up for the current iteration of Red Vs. Blue. We run solo, small and medium sized engagements, honor 1 vs 1 fights and most fights are in cheap, frigate based encounters. RvB Website
Other great options are to consider joining Eve University or taking the Agony Empire pvp course.
Seriously though, consider signing up for Red v Blue. You can join the in game channel at named R-v-B for more info or to ask some questions.

All the roles you named are sortof mini professions, ie one wouldnt fill out your pvp career - but you can of course train towards certain ships and get comfortable with them, but id suggest not spending too much time on one type of ship but also skill into other directions.
Most of all for pvp its learning by doing, if youre more experienced in pvp youll know how to use logistics as well as using tacklers or damage dealer.
You could as example train your racial frigate to 5, get the cov ops skill and the probing skills to 4 and at the same time train towards ceptors and afs. Or train for cruises, get skills for both the blackbird and its ecm skills and missile skills for the caracal etc.
Btw logistics and fleet boosters are difficult to use for new pilots, as t1 ships as logistics dont work very well because theyre so easy to shoot down - for ganglinks to be useful they require millions of sp which older players can easier spend on niche ships while you would probably mroe beneift from skills that help in more situations then just fleet boosting. -

Logistics will require skills and you can't just jump into it. Not only that but you will want PvP experience before taking an expensive ship into battle.
Starting tackling. Move into using a cruiser as you will need the skills eventually. Then consider where you want to go from there.

Edited by: Lidirt on 02/10/2009 03:16:06 I'd say your best bet is to find a new corp/alliance first. Some organizations prefer certain types of pilots.
If you're a jack of all trades obviously that makes things a little easier, but if you find the right corp and you mesh well with them they probably don't care what specifically you're flying, given a few things: - you have a strong desire to help - you're open to suggestions & criticism - you're willing to try new things (especially if you're new)
edit: this wasn't supposed to sound sexually motivated, but upon re-reading what i wrote, it does... in all seriousness willingness to adapt and find what you're good at is probably more valuable than specialization to most organizations i've flown with.

The post above is correct: If you want to do serious pvp, find a good corp. They might have replacement programs for lost ships, and tackle's usually one of those replaced ships.
I really think you have to find what you like to fly. Logistics can be fun, because everyone's depending on you, but you don't get many kills. Basic fleet booster/leadership doesn't take much time though.
What I did: tackle -> RR BS -> Logistics -> HAC. Not very specified, but I enjoy flying each.
