I don't know why but i have been reading up on electronic warfare and think the idea is frickin awesome! But when i looked into all the ship variants i have access too none of them have ECM bonuses attached to them. Why is it that only caldari have ECM bonused ships? I want to try and stay pure minmatar but darn it sucks to lose all that fun.
Ive seen some races have access to hybrid technology.. amarr have some missile boats / caldari have some gun boats / seems like everyone has combined arms and combined suppport why not combined ECM? If not looks like ill be training caldari just to sport ECM :( I would love to find some sort of hybrid mix of ECM and projectiles on a minmatar hull. |

Electronic warfare is more then just ECM.
Caldari = ECM Amarr = Neuts and Tracking Disruption Gallente = Sensor dampening and Warp disruption
Minmatar = Webifiers and Target painters
Electronic Warfare is any module that harms the enemy without destroying it's shield / armor / structure.

Also, cause Minmatar doesn't get the bonus doesn't mean you can't put ECM on your ship, but usually it means you suck at it cause of the lack of bonuses.
As for hybrid technologie, only Caldari and Gallente have those specs.
Amarr = Lasers Caldari = Hybrids (Railguns) or Missiles Gallente = Hybrids (Blasters) or Drones Minmatar = Projectiles
Each race does have a couple of ships that have missile bonus but Caldari has just a whole line of missile ships at their disposal. Inject your skillbook before you leave the station. Minmatar is good for lighting up smaller ships so your battleships/battlecruisers can hit them easier.
But really, if you combine Amarr with Caldari E-War, you will completely neutralize your enemy - they will be jammed out of the fight and have no cap. Rabble Rabble!! |

I respect how you want to stay 'pure minmatar' in your choice of ships.
I think that the Minmatar philosophy of fighting/ ship design is an up front, 'bare-bones' approach. Fast ships with simple but effective projectile weapons that deal lots of damage. Things like E-war are considered 'fancy gimmicks', or sneaky fighting that a Minmatar ship generally doesn't need. Of course, the target painters which are Minmatar e-war are appreciated (they make a targeted ship easier to hit).
You could consider though, that since the Minmatar were slaves of the Amarr, they learned to be very familiar with Amarrian ship designs (or Caldari for that matter) before the ships of their own people.
So while as a Minmatar loyalist you would proudly fly the ships of your people 95% of the time, you might be familiar with the Arbitrator or Sentinel that you stole from your former Masters or something. You might even say that you 'hate flying the damn thing', but it's usefulness is something that can't be overlooked. It would be using the enemy's own weapons against them.
Part of the EVE lore says that ships have crews, and some Amarrians presumably had Minmatar slaves as crew which were controlled through Vitoc addiction. You could have it as part of your backstory that you were one of these slave crewmen aboard let's say an Arbitrator, then led a mutiny against your Amarrian overlords, took their ship and joined the Tribal Liberation Force.
So, cross-train to fly Amarrian ships, and pretend that every time you fly an Amarrian ship you had to murder the Amarrian captain, steal his ship and liberate the Minmatar crew or something. |
