Whatever happened to the pen & paper RPG planned for EVE? I remember it being announced back when White Wolf and CCP merged, and hearing a podcast interview about it a year ago. Since then, nothing. And I haven't been able to find anything online. I was hoping there would be some news from Fan Fest.
Today, I found one forum user on another site claiming it had been canceled for unknown reasons. Does anyone know if this is actually the case?
Has anyone heard anything else?

it was "put on indefinite hiatus". see that post, with links to comment by the dev in charge. Dates back to spring, but I dont think it moved a lot since...

The EVE setting is not difficult to use for a roleplaying campaign. Just pick up a decent system (I'd recommend Unisystem for simplicity, BESM for flexibility or Eclipse Phase for detailed Sci-Fi) and start writing a campaign. -----

I remember somebody running an Eve campaign in a P&P system at Dundee University a few years back. ---- Infiniband can do more than just prevent lag |

well the white wolf systems are quite good, and I am of the opinion that generic system are crappy, a system should be tied to its world.
But I think its more a question of background: the eve background was originally made for a spaceship game, so the overall coherence, in particular on the ground (where a campaign would take place) is not trivial. And I am lazy; so having an official word, even if just to do the contrary, would have been good imho...

I've got a D20 EVE RPG file somewhere on my comp, currently stuck on the 'Talents' area...
But it's more of a small-people RPG, not capsuleers, IE: The guys who more rational people might send to rescue their damsel rather than a triggerhappy caldari battleship pilot. ________________________________________________ HELP! CCP HAS NERFED MY SIG! ALSO CAPLOCKS IS FUN! While we're at it I need to bake muffins ^_^ |

D20 is like the Diku of RPG systems, there used to be quite a variety of great (and bad) tabletop RPGs in the late 80's/early 90's then D20 came along and homogenized them into something that wasn't anywhere near as fun to play anymore. D20 was fine for 3rd Ed. AD&D but when other games started using the system I think they lost a lot of their flavour.
Shame really. ------------------------------------------------ You either need a punch up the throat or a good shag.

I always though it would end up something like the shadow run game engine, with expanded vehicle (read star ship) rules for combat etc and minus the magic. combined with the eve back story along with a few tweaks for example character creation to reflect the different races etc.
It already as the concept of pod pilots to some extent in riggers, limited cloning, plus you have all the interesting cybernetic implants and weapons to use on your opponent.
Have it set just after the pod was invented so its behind the game should help deal with the amount of lead the writers would need. Macrointel, the place were the nature order of the universe does not hold sway. Pirates and ore thief's are congratulated by carebears for the actions. |

White Wolf was working on it and gave up. similar to the card game except the card game launched
