Edited by: Adunh Slavy on 05/10/2009 02:12:24 I flew through Sasta today, and can't say I saw this mystery ship. Anyone else happen to catch a glimpse of this mystery Abaddon?

Mr. Slavy, when a ship is finished production, it is not then immediately sent off to patrol the local system. There are a few flaws with your theory so let's go through them.
The ship must go through field testing, usually in a deadspace area. This takes time. The ship must be properly crewed. This takes time. The ship must go through a final checkup. This takes time. When it is ready to launche, the Yonis variant then goes very far away as it is made to be an Empire-Republic border patroller and not sitting around looking nice.
In fact, if the lack of the ship's sighting proves anything it is that they aren't showing off. Now if there's anything else you'd like to waste our time with, don't.

Yes the new modified abaddon would appear to be a beam or pulse laser variant.
No confirmed sightings of this new battleship class as of yet
It would appear test server is on its daily downtime i dont remmeber seeing any modified abaddons for dominion though could be some changes that will flow thro in coming weeks it smells like ccp either nerfing them or giving a new factional version of the abaddon.
Sasta is where this ship is being deployed from it may be worthwhile just before and thro past dt keeping an eye on this system for displays of flight by amarr-ammatar navy forces.

Sasta, Derelik û The Ammatar Fleet has launched its first 'Yonis variant' Abaddon-class battleship from a military shipyard in Sasta, the Fleet HQ system. The launch is the first of an unspecified number of Abaddon-class battleships from the Ardishapur house fleet that are being refitted for duties with the Ammatar Fleet.
Designed for extended 'prestige patrol' duties on the Minmatar border, the 'Yonis variant,' named after Royal Heir Yonis Ardishapur, is understood to have modified energy plants and does not carry the energy-hungry and crew-intensive tachyon beam batteries often seen on Imperial Navy Abaddon variants. The decision of the Ammatar Fleet to deploy the formidable Abaddon-class on the border with the Minmatar Republic is regarded by observers as yet another signal from Royal Heir Yonis Ardishapur that he considers it vital that the Mandate be a major contributor to the strategic goals of the Amarr Empire.

I suspect the Governer will keep the location of the ship a military secret. After all, don't want to broadcast to the Mandate's enemies exactly where out military forces are ? Better to keep them guessing, I guess. |

It's the usual sort of technological advanement we can expect from Amarr Empire. They change the paint and call it "brand new". It's not the Amarr that have invented this principle anyway, I think the Caldari were first with their new campaign to reintroduce their cereals on the Amarr market.
The Abbadon is a lousy speedtank. And with changing the weapons it still is a lousy speedtank which makes it an inferior weapon to every Minmatar vessel, kids go-carts inclusive. -- FREEDOM, PUNK & AUTOCANNONS

Whatever. Lasers are good to heat up teawater. And the Abaddon is maybe one of the greatest teawater-heaters of the whole universe. And for celebrating they make a very cool light if there is some nebular that makes the beams shine in space. Celebrating with autocannons and artillery is no great showoff, because in space you can't hear them if you are not inside the ship it fires them or inside the ship that get hit. Alas being hit by nuclear ammunition is quite a show itself and many people have a radiating happiness if they got hit.
To compensate this a bit we put in tracers every few rounds but Minmatar weapons are bad for show, great for destruction. If you want to heat your teawater - take lasers. They are doing a hell of a job in this.
I order one for my kitchen, please. But I want it in red-brown color which is the color of season for us Minmatar this year, our designers call that color "Roid Raider". -- FREEDOM, PUNK & AUTOCANNONS
