After training most of the learning skills and some core skills I'd be eager to start PvP, maybe by join a 0.0 corporation.
But I started to wonder that how can one make the ISK to fund all the zillions of frigates I'm going to loose while PvPing? I suppose taking my mission runnin BC to 0.0 is out of question and are there even any agents over there?
So how do low SP pilots earn ISK in 0.0 or is 0.0 PvP out of the reach of starting players? |

One thing I learned early is few things are out of reach for a new player. Obviously, flying a titan is.
If you go the 0.0 route, there are agents out there if you are in NPC space. True 0.0 I am not as familiar with.
Since you seem to be combat orineted, you can move a clone to 0.0 have the logistic guy in corp or allaince jump some ships or just buy them there. When you run outta money, clone jump to high sec and run missions there.
Keeping a clone or two in each spot and your mission ship in high sec expands your options.
Also never underestimate the power of a scout in 0.0. If you can fly a cov op ship, then you will almost always have a job.

But don't creation of jump clones require very hgh standing (like 8.0) with the corporation whose station you are using. I.e. having on in high-sec requires quite a lot of faction grinding?

Normally yes. However there is at least one corp set up for the sole purpose of giving out jump clones to various factions. And the one I'm thinking of is free Sorry I can't think of the name of this corp. I think you can find it if you search on 'jump clones' X

1. Any 0.0 corp not supplying their young ones with fitted frigates for their pvp needs, are a 0.0 corp not worth joining in the first place.
2. Ways of making money in EVE for young characters... plenty. Talk to your CEO.

True, if solo. Though as mentioned below a good 0.0 Alliance should also have the standings with at least one corp to allow you to get a jump clone, or would help you to the free one.
Also once you have the clone, you can move it to any station with medical facilities despite standing. There is a modest fee.

Most people in 0.0 rat for isk /kill NPC's in asteroid belts. You wont be able to do that in frigates very well tho.
I can tell you this though...theres nothing worse than a broke ass pvp'r always begging for ships . This game has multiple ways to make billions of isk . You might want to find your own way to do that and get yourself so you can self sustain . Missioning or ratting will use the same skill groups so you dont have to get sidetracked into mining or trading skills.

A vast amount of 0.0 corps expect their members to be self-sufficient to a point. If you can't even afford to buy yourself T1 frigs then you are not worth having in the corp until you can manage that.

ninja salvaging is the most profitable profession for a newbie. all you need is a ship that can launch 4 probes and a salvager (minmatar probe is a good one). go to motsu and have a blast. you are looking to make 20 mil an hour ++. off the top of my head the skills u need:
min frig 3 - 16,000 sp (probe) astrometrics 3 - 24,000 sp astrometric rangefinding 2 - 11,300 sp astrometric aquisition 3 - 90,000 salvage 1 - 1,000 sp
totals out to - 142,000 sp - at 1800 sp an hour thats roughly 3 and a half days of training.

I'd sooner give you **** for misspelling the name of the corp

earning isk in 0.0 is actually fairly easy. you just need to be prepared to warp out. missioning can be done but the quick money for new players is in ratting. over the last 2 years I have made a habit out of taking new players into 0.0 as soon as they fly a battlecruiser. its all you need to start out in 0.0 making money. as for pvp, if you can use a t1 warp disruptor and a microwarp drive you are in business.
give me a shout in game, i'd be glad to work with you on this

Even if you do salvage guristas wrecks, though, you'll still make more than most newbie professions...easily enough to fund t1 frigates. I recommend aiming for Sansha, Blood, or Angel wrecks though.

Edited by: Joe Stalin on 07/10/2009 19:58:52 1) Join an 0.0 corp/alliance 2) Get assistance of your corp/alliance to escort or jump your BC out to their relatively safe space they stay in 3) Rat or mission run while watching local, and since you are new, preferably do this with a team mate or two 4) Join in your corp/alliance's roaming gangs, and try to get your share of the loot. You don't need to risk your only BC here generally... All roaming gangs need fast frigates to tackle enemy ships, so you can use cheap frigates with webs and warp scramblers/disruptors which are easy to replace with your BC ratting/missions while you build up your confidence.
Get the skills to fly a fast but cheap frigate, warp disruptor, possibly a webifier, and definately a micro warp drive for speed. Get some practice with corp mates burning to them and doing an orbital tackle. 0.0 corps/alliances always need a few of these in their fleets, and they are some of the cheapest and easiest ships to fit for a new guy. Without them the heavy ships often have nothing to shoot at so your services will be appreciated as long as you don't lose them :)

Edit: spelling
Taking your BC to 0.0 isn't out of the question at all. A BC is a very effective ship for Ratting. With your low sp though some of multi BS spawns, and officer spawns may be a bit more than you would want to take on. Once you get your sp up to about 3-4 million I think you could handle most if not all rat spawns as long as you play smart.
When I first started playing the game I used to rat using a Ferox. I only had a few mission sp with most of it in mining and I could rat just fine, though the triple BS spawns were sometimes a little troublesome. I didn't know how to properly tank at the time either. Recruitment Thread EKT Website |

A t1 fit, t1 cruiser can rat very nicely with corp mates. There are trash spawns to clear sometimes as well if you can trying to chain rats. Plenty of iskies to earn all around.
For pvp, fitting a frigate with mwd and point is all you need to scout and tackle.

Get into a destroyer. Fit scanners, salvagers and a cloak. Scan down Mackinaws with expensive fits and have some of your other 2 mill SP friends blow them up with smartbombs using battleships.
Doing that right should make you guys a few million isk blowing up vanilla mackinaws. Every now and then you get some 30 or 100 million isk modules that are just awsome.
In 0.0 all you need for making isk is a destroyer, 7 salvagers and a cloak. In highsec, all you need for making isk is a destroyer like above and a probe-frigate. In highsec, all you need for killing carebears are to use smartbombs and the same skills that will be needed for any PVP setups. --- DUST! A future home for surprise sex and jihad!! |

Generally corps/alliance in 0.0 don't JUST PVP. They make isk by ratting, running plexes, or having high-sec alts. Also, any decent corp/alliance will provide throw away frigates for corp/alliance fleets

Bring you mission BC and hunt BS-sized rats for like 5-25 mil an hour depending on dedication, loot and luck. It goes pretty quick when the BS rats pay out 1 mil each.

Edited by: Kamen on 12/10/2009 16:51:51 Some 0.0 corps (like ours) provide corp a free insured BC or BS for PvP. You would be only responsible for the fitting. However, it is expected that you can effectively fit and fly those ships.
General rule of thumb for 0.0 is that you join a 0.0 corp once you can decently fly a BC or BS and kill all rat spawns in that space with it. That will make you self-sufficient, and that's all you need bar corp skillpoint requirements to live in 0.0.
In the meanwhile, I would suggest you take on an empire pirate corp and get the much needed solo PvP experience. ------------------------------------------------ (Recruiting ad) SRBI regrutuju! Dodjite na nas javni SRBI kanal. Kontakt Soder/Me West |
