I was wondering if it was possible to run a Vaga on lvl 4 missions solo? If so, what would be the best fit? I know jumping into a BS is alot easier but I prefer smaller faster ships. More into enjoying the mission and having fun then just mission grinding. Any help is appreciated.

I'm sure it's possible to run any level 4 in a vaga but I wouldn't recommend it. It's main strength is it's high speed and that's something that isn't of any great help in most level 4 missions. You want a high kill speed and not a high travel speed imo.

Which ship would you recommend for high kill rate other than a BS?

A t2 BS.
No but seriously: If you want to use a HAC then I think the Ishtar could perform well (high damage against all ship types, free damage choice, great range). A command ship could also work well. Perhaps a Nighthawk (though I think you'd still be faster in a plain old Raven then in a NH).
T3 ships would also be great but a little expensive.

You might consider a Sacrilege if you reaally want a HAC.

If you insist on using small(er) ships I recommend the Cerberus.

DPS: Kinetic is about 450-550 (Depending on skills and implants) Range: about 80-100 km Cap stable: Yes Resists: 93% kinetic 80% thermal. Swap to em-hardeners when fighting sansha/blood and explosive for angel. An alround fit is kinetic/invul. AB: You will negate alot of incoming dps just by moving around. If too many rats come too close just move away.
This used to be my favourite setup when i bothered to run missions (mainly for standings and LP). Now I simply buy/sell GTCs and spend the isk on pvp.

a loki is perfectly fitting into your intrest about lvl4 missions. dps of a battleship and speed of a cruiser. i know most of the eft warriors will say "battleships have at least 100dps more" but that dps will only work on targets bigger than a cruiser. a strategic cruiser can do full damage to any ship type. ------------------------------------------------ cruisers used to be a great power when i started this game :) |

The problem i would see with this is if you get webbed. A Sacrilege has a great armor tank, while still putting out enough damage with HAMs to complete a level 4 albeit slower than a BS. It can take getting webbed for a bit. A Cerb and Ishtar use range to kill the rats. The Vaga is a close range ship like the Sacrilege, but does not have the tanking abilities it does. The Vaga has speed instead. Once that is gone it will get munched.
I suppose you could armor tank the lows to make it similar to a Sacrilege, but then you would lose low slot damage mods which it needs. I don't know if you could fit an effective shield tank in only 3 mids. If so then it might work for level 4s.
A Sleipnir or Claymore are better for doing level 4s.

You won't really get higher kill rates on L4 unless you use a BS. If you are totally set on NOT using a BS then may I suggest the Hurricane? Since you were already interested in Minnie HAC I can assume you have good skills for a Cane too.

I would really suggest you not do any but the easiest level 4s with a Cane.

Vaga can do level 4's. i have one that i use on Angel missions.
Webbers are the biggest threat. Have you drones ready and primay them with everything you have. Once they are gone, keep moving on the AB.

if you want to stay minnie and sub bs a loki is a decent to good replacement (depending on how much you want to spend in it)
offers good tank and decent dps... the phoon will be a better choice (and using cruise missiles + sent you have not to move that much) but if money is not an issue and you like smaller ships the t3 cruiser is the perfect choice

Unfortunately, rather than address the slot layout/tanking issues for Minmatar the Devs have simple declared that it makes us "versitile".

Vaga isn't going to cut it for lvl4s, one mistake, web and you done. Same with lag spike or similar, you done.
If you don't want to use BS and I can fully understand that point;) Use Sleipnir or if you are rich Loki, both will do well enough to do lvl4s in them. It's suboptimal but it's better than using ship you hate... you pay for game to have fun afterall;) |

The simple and honest truth is that in almost all all cases a simple T1 fit BS will do the mission faster, and more safely then any smaller ship.
If it's a matter of fun, yes, you can have more fun in a small ship, but Missions are NOT about having fun. They're about making isk.
Isk/hr is your goal.
So bite the bullet, and buy a BS, and use one.
The raven is one of, if not THE ugliest ship in game, but it's a king at mission running. A T2 Fit Raven will do it all.
Buy one, fit one, hate it, make isk with it.

NH is faster. Domi can be faster if you run sentries and play actively. Domi can also run in the background with heavies.
Marauders are better ISK/hour but not the fastest if you just want LP and mission rewards.
Ishtars do fine. I could see but haven't tried a Cerb. Vaga, though.... Not sure about that.

I used to do a select few Angel lvl4's in my arty Muninn. It always took a while, and you'll have to be careful, but as long as keep moving with an AB and med shield booster (or for example a small gisti A type) running you can stay alive :)
And if fit a nice EM/Therm armor tank, the lvl4's against Amarr are also quite doable.

I hope to god the NH is faster.
