3 tries, 3 fails, 6 hours and around 6 GB of wasted network traffic.
First the download manager found out that the downloaded file doesn't match the md5 checksum of the expected one, then the manual one had a similar problem and today Firefox crashed during the DL. I know the last one isn't CCPs fault but such things happen and connections can become unstable, especially over a long time.
A good thing would be to have a download agent that downloads parts of the game and checks them on the run, and redownloads the parts with errors instead of losing the whole 2 GB file in the end.
So next try will be with the torrent thingy, lets hope the best. (Note: If I would be a new player I would have cancelled the trial already after the first 2 tries)
But one real question, where is the file that was downloaded by the Eve installer? I would like to delete that 2 GB file to get rid of it. |

CCP just need to integrate PAR2 checking into the downloader. On anything this size it is *needed*. It makes recovering downloads like this stupidly easy and saves everyone bandwidth.

Make sure you uninstall the background services though, or else that will keep consuming upload >.>

There is likely some other problem with your connection or with your system - I regularly download files exceeding 2GB (game demos, steam, etc.) and have never had a single corrupted download EVER.
Run a memtest and do a SMART check on your HDD.
The funny thing about this sentence is that by the time you've finished reading it, it's too late for you to realise it doesn't say anything. |

Memory errors can also cause large downloads to fail. Try running memtest x86 over night.
