I wanted to get into production.
I've been playing EVE for a few years now, and all I really do is mine.
Can anyone direct me towards a guide for Production?
I don't really know where to start.
Will mining help to cut much of the cost of production?
Thank you.

T1 Production is relatively straightforward. Things to keep in mind:
1) PE5 is essential 2) Researched BPOs are critical. Don't overresearch. In theory, it takes a ML 320 BPO to get perfect EMP L (as an example). But the difference between 22 and 320 is 1 trit. The difference between ML 10 and ML 320 is only 7 trit. So it's a very, very thin difference for a whole lot of extra work 3) Do research. Travel around. Find mission hubs to buy at and to sell ammo at. www.eve-central.com is a good starting place but you'll want to check with your own eyes. 4) Ships aren't as lucrative as you think they are (especially battleships) but there are some profits to be made. 5) Mining will only defray about 2-4% of the cost vs. buying outright (that's the typical spread between an immedate buy order and an immediate sell order). You should always factor in the "true" mineral cost when determining profitability. You'll be making so many runs to trade hubs to sell stuff that there's no time factor of money lost for the travel. So it's silly to build something that results in a loss since you could have just as easily sold the minerals and made more.

Mining as an industrialist is a good way to cut down on expenses and that way earn more isk, but remember, the minerals you mine have a value, so if you can't make a profit from buying minerals and manufacturing, you'll lose money from your mining income if you use those minerals to produce with.

Where PE5 means having your Production Efficiency skill at level V not researching the PE (Production Efficiency) level of each blueprint to 5.

Calculate your minerals at a price, they are not free.
Most people use one of the following 4:
1) Lowest Sell Order 2) Highest Buy Order 3) Market Region Avg 4) (Low Sell + High Buy) / 2
Make sure your BP's are researched... might be easier to start with BPC's than invest in the BPO + the research
