Never used SC but that is because a m8 of mine used it and he too was acused of being a fraud and was verbally abused. I listened to it on vent. It was lol. Wish I had recorded it.
My m8 is english so language wasn't the issue. The issue was the address of some shop near his flat. The SC guy had the address wrong and wouldn't concede the fact that my m8 had the right one.
So from then on he, and I, and everyone I know on eve uses battleclinic.

I tried SC once, will use something else in future. They called me and the caller asked me the name of the street next to the street i live in.
Problem is, i never pay attention to street names... I just don't have any use for them. It's enough that i know the street i live in and where the shops are etc. Why should i care if the XXX shop is in XXXstreet, i just know it's there and it's enough
So yes, they refunded my money and i got no GTC

While I personally have no bad experiences with SC, I've always used Battleclinic in the past simply because I'd rather support a seller who actually plays the game/runs a game related website, over one who's just making money off it. ----------------

I usually get my GTC from SC. First time, they phoned me up, and I was giving them wrong answers. (road names, etc) I thought about this for a moment and then told the rep "Hang on, I've moved since I last updated my paypal address. Ask me again." He obliged and I answered questions based on my old address. He was happy enough, I got my code all good.
The next time I tried to get a code, I ordered it from my work computer. The order remained pending for a time. My internet at work is proxied through Prague. It was a while ago, but I think the conversation went like this:
"Hi, have you placed an order on the internet recently?" "Yes... Hi Shattered Crystal. It's me, it's my work internet." "Ok, no worries..." *approved*
Seemed reasonable enough fellows to me. Now when I get a code either from home internet or work internet, it's fine. :D

I'm comforted to know that my details with Shattered Crystal are held by paranoid racists.
It's that quality of service that keeps me coming back to them.

I used Sc for a long time too and the guy calling me was very friendly even if it took some time until we both understand what the other said *g*.
I had once a deliver delay for 2 days but the suport via chat was fast as soon as I contacted them (instant delate the old/missing GTC and gave me fresh once). Wasn't a real problem as I allways buy them in time. But this happened just once in over two years.

lol, and I thought I was the only one.
Yeah, I used to pay for my accounts via time code. The first time I used shattered crystal there was no problem at all, I used them a couple of times then maybe the third or fourth time they called me up the same as most people in this thread.
I got some arrogant American asshat on the phone who was obviously looking at Google Earth, quizzing me about my location and the area I live in, asking about local major roads and towns around me, even though he had NO IDEA where I was from.
He didn't recognise my accent (a lot of people from the states haven't heard a north east English accent), and I got exactly the same, some guy on the phone accusing me of trying to pull a fraud, saying I sounded like I was from Poland or Russia.
The guy hung up on me when I demanded a refund and they refunded me after about 3 hours of heated emails with their support department. In the end I threatened to call my lawyer and get the police involved and they folded.
Absolute pack of morons.

Edited by: Doctor Penguin on 09/11/2009 00:15:29 Am I glad I used Battleclinic? I am now. It took about 2 hours for the process to go through and I got my GTC and therefore my EVE subscription for ú10.50 rather than ú13.50. And I'm not part of their affiliate scheme so don't think I'm saying this for personal benefit. ________________________________________________

I believe the reason they do this is because the person who runs it ran it like pretty crappily in the beginning and got about 10k usd worth of timecodes "stolen". Had to return the money and lost the codes :P So I guess now he decided cracking down like a jackass is the way to go, somewhat understandable if largely harsh.

I hadn't thought it about much since I ordered my one and only GTC from SC over a year ago, but they were definitely offensive. I was born in India, but have lived here for quite a while. I was a little surprised by the obvious google maps questions, but when he started asking me questions about where I was born, I felt this was crossing the line. I am used to this kind of interrogation from border patrol agents when I cross back and forth from Canada, but not from someone I am buying a game time code from. At least now I know they have been identified as a racist, xenophobic company.

I would never buy ETC from a seller, who phones before sending the code. I have certainly no need for some random moron, who wants to quizz me about my country. |

Shattered crystal sucks. Especially if you live in another country than what your credit card account is in.
Battleclinic is far better. They don't treat you like a criminal when you want to buy something.

I have used SC in the past to acquire GTCs for eve and LoTRO. I never had any negative experience. The original screening call was uncomplicated, yet left the feeling of an overworked call center agent under a tight clock ;) |

SHATTERED CRYSTAL SUCKS!
also
Shattered Crystal came to my home drunk once, insulted my wife and children, sat on my cat, helped themself to my food, and passed out naked in the hallway.
I'm not using their service again. No one needs that crap.

I've never used SC, but after a bit of looking around, I remember why they bothered me in UO - They are the original RMT kids. Anyway, they advertise for gold sellers and bots, so they'll never get my money.

That's probably Google Ad-Sense at work. Basically SC is hosting Google adverts and gets paid by Google for that. To determine which ad to display the web page is examined by Google and appropriate ads selected. ISK sellers in turn pay Google to put ads on pages related to EVE online - voila, you have an EVE page advertising ISK selling without the author knowing about it.
Even Chribba had this problem for some time - apparently you can ask Google to exclude some pages but it's tedious to catch them all since new ones spring up all the time. Well, lately I get a lot of ... are you sitting? On Chribba's EVE pages I lately get ads for "Hello Kitty Online" :D
As for Shattered Crystal I ordered codes from them for some time and initially it worked and they never phoned me. Later they rejected my order and returned the money because I did not answer the phone (I was sitting next to it and it did not ring) but when I pointed them at the earlier transactions everything worked fine again.
Lately I'm using PLEX though.

Is it not possible that he misunderstood or was misunderstood? "Bad in English" and all that...
I know that I've recommended SC to a number of friends and they've had nothing but positive things to say. Personally I think the whole phone call to prevent fraud idea is a very good one.
You should contact CCP (and SC) directly about this. Markee Dragon (Shattered Crystal) is an official ETC reseller, after all, and CCP might want to hear about problems like this.
I've never had a problem with SC.
They asked me where I lived and what road was nearby. I told them and thats basically how they verified me. I suppose had I been drunk or out of it... I might have answered the question wrong.
From my understand SC got tired of getting people getting Paypal to revoke their order after they entered their game codes.
Also...
Confirming that you're trying to do the same.

I would normally assume the same thing, but in this case, that's not true. AdSense requires a display of "Ads by Google" under their ads. Also, that wouldn't explain the bots in the "Friends of MD" section in the right nav and the "Buy Sell & Trade" pages in the left.

Um, SC is spot on. I been using them since I started in April 09. Sure the 1st time they need to call to confirm my details and it takes ~30 minutes to get your card, but everytime after that it's quick and painless. Your buddy might have just misunderstood or missed something. I bite. |

Or...it truly is a cowboy operation (please, no jokes about lassoes). The only and only time that I purchased a GTC from them, they called me, as they have done to others in this thread. The dude on the other end of the phone initially asked me some questions based on the local geography, which, although they were a little obscure (things about motorway junctions and stadia?!), I obliged as best as I could.
However, the tone took a distinctly dark side as he kept on insisting how my name should be spelt, as opposed to how it actually is spelt. Insanely, this went on for about five minutes. He kept on mumbling nonsense about card fraud or somesuch, but relented when I threatened to complain and do a chargeback.
After that, I have consigned these ****tards to the bin of asshattery and stuck to the PLEX system. ---

Then someone actually called him, he is very bad in english and this person in phone was accuseing him about fraud or being in different country. So nothing came, and after support ticket war he finally got an answer that the order was cancelled and refunded. Tho his creditcard shows the ammount and it has been removed from his account. After being abused, my friend was not impressed. Should have asked him to buy directly from EVE.
Damn im ****ed.
maybe your 'friend' should consider not being a russian credit card fraudster next time. And why post this here ?, this forum has nothing to do with shattered crystal.

And us Americans can't be bothered to learn history or how to point our home town on a map much less the state we live in.
