I'm debating buying a Sin...
Would generally be used a Solo PVP Gank ship. Any suggestions on fitting and/or actual ability/usefullness of this ship in that type of role?

Sin would be great for a solo pwn mobile! Now where exactly are you planning on using this?

Well the cost is coming down significantly with the t2 changes in dominion, so it wont be such a huge investment anymore. Also losing one is no longer a huge blow with the new t2 insurance.

Wrong. Insurance will be tweaked to todays payout. It is just a temporary side effect of the altered T2 production chain.

T2 insurance from what i heard from listening will be a slight couple percent more of the average price you pay compared to today, not so much it's worth bothering most of the time but something that you can now consider at all. ------------------------------------- Don't click the links or even the forum topics. |

Confirming that T2 ships prices will go down (and I bet modules will go up to make pirates happy).
Insurance will remain the same on T2 ships: almost nothing.

As a ship? What the heck else would it be used as?
No they're not worth it as a ship, but they're worth it as a Christmas tree ornament.

Do the math
Dominix Hull 6641 Armor 6211 Shield 5469 Cap 5000 Targeting range 70km CPU 600 PG 9000 Low Slots 7 Mid Slots 5 High Slots 6 Turret Hardpoints 6 Rig Slots 3 Price 45.5 million
Sin Hull 5312 Armor 4968 Shield 4375 Cap 5000 Targeting range 56km CPU 600 PG 8800 Low Slots 6 Mid Slots 6 High Slots 7 Turret Hardpoints 4 Rig Slots 2 Price 710 million
Sin has less hull, armor, shields, low slots, rig slots, turret hardpoints, targeting range, AND costs about 18 times more than a Domi.
I suppose if you have more ISK than brains it might be fun watching it get blown up.

Wow, I'm not a huge proponent for the Sin either, but that's a really objective viewpoint. How about listing the things the Sin can do capability wise over a T1 Domi rather than some arbitrary numbers about armor?

specialized ships are best used for their intended purposes. The sin is not for solo ganking, it's for dropping WTFPWN cloaky gangs behind enemy lines. it's very good at that, not so much at anything else.

You don't kill people by opening covert jumpbridges at them...
Looking at the bonuses, I'm honestly curious as to why you think it would be a good choice for hunting alone? It has less tank and less gank than a Domi; it is intended to jump a fleet of smaller ships behind enemy lines and then give them support from a BS-class hull.
That's nice, but I don't think it would beat out a Domi for OP's purposes. --- Owl |

Indiectly, you often do, but that's not Solo. Would suggest you downside to something smaller if you want to Solo. Preferrably something that can GTFO if you end up on the wrong side of a roaming gang.

Yo o/
This is a decent fit, it's a bit pimp but soloing in a battleship requires a bit of something extra ;3
[Sin, Solo] Centus X-Type Large Armor Repairer Dark Blood Large Armor Repairer Core X-Type Armor Kinetic Hardener Core X-Type Armor Explosive Hardener Core X-Type Armor Thermic Hardener Damage Control II
Shadow Serpentis 100MN MicroWarpdrive Tairei's Modified Heavy Capacitor Booster, Navy Cap Booster 800 Tuvan's Modified Sensor Booster, Scan Resolution Warp Disruptor II Gallente Navy Stasis Webifier ECCM - Magnetometric II
Heavy Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M Heavy Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M Heavy Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M Heavy Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M Heavy Unstable Power Fluctuator I Medium Nosferatu II Estamel's Modified Cloaking Device
Large Auxiliary Nano Pump II Large Nanobot Accelerator II
Ogre II x5 Berserker II x5 Vespa EC-600 x10 Warrior II x10
You have plenty of escape options, your sebo lets you obtain a quick lock and you've got a great web to keep the targets slowed down if they start to break range.
The neut keeps the target under pressure. If you don't want an ECCM, you can fit a Tracking Disruptor and help your tank out. Alternatively you could fit a warp scrambler to keep the target at range.
Anyway, that's my fit :3

The only advantage you might have is the element of surprise by using the ships jump ability.
Its prolly gonna die if you put it up against a t1 battleship though, and thats not even one setup well.
Black ops are nice tools used in the right hands but as a solo ship you don't really want to be going there.

Erm, a Sin can warp cloaked and a Domi cant, thats it............its advantage is stealth, not firepower or tank or anything.

Look again, the Black Ops ships cant fit covert cloaks, and cant warp cloaked.

Uh, for around the same price you can get a faction or pirate battleship that is far better. Its pretty common knowledge. I'd say this thread is a troll.
