While watching the PvP round table at this year's fanfest, the idea came to me for a slight change to the ECM system that might make it more balanced with regards to the other e-war.
Change the ECM module to break all locks the targeted ship currently has when a successful jam cycle occurs. The module cycle time may need to be reduced as well as the cap cost but using this system in conjunction with damps you could still get the perma jamming but it would require more skill and co-ordination.
Simply put, jammers break all locks as opposed to preventing locks.
Just a thought I had, please discuss //T

Edited by: Foraven on 13/10/2009 15:31:38 Yeah, ECM in it's current form isn't that useful. I guess it may be if you want to get that alfa strike down before they do, but in general delaying lock a few seconds don't change much to the battle. If there was some more benifit to having ecm, like reducing the quality of the lock they manage to get...
Of course, i never used or faced an ecm heavy ship yet, don't know how powerful they can be.

Edited by: Gabriel Rike on 13/10/2009 15:33:56 yeah.... so use ecm with damps to perma jam them......er wait, or just use more damps to perma jam them, why do you need the ecm in this case anymore? this isnt a balance this is a nerf. unless you are talking like 2sec cycle times and 1/10th the cap cost, this would fail horribly, and if you did do that, then a bb could spot jam nearly an entire fleet again due to low cycle times, thus returning to a different type of wine that ecm is too strong like before.
Way to think outside the box, but you failed to compare it to whats already in the box.
additionally, the way you would want it to work its a less effective damping scorp. go and put a ecm burst mod on a scorp with level 5 skills on eft and look at its str and range.... and it hits more than 1 target.... same effect but not targeted and not at 45km. thus balanced.
