Just noticed this in the Patch Notes for Dominion. Must have missed it before:
Quote: Player owned wrecks can now be marked as "Available for all" which prevents CONCORD or criminal repercussions for taking from or destroying free for all wrecks.
First, I assume this means when a player ship gets destroyed (as opposed to an NPC pirate), that the wreck is marked at Available for All.
So, stealth nerf (or not so stealth, I suppose) to suiciders in high sec? Are suiciders now running a higher risk that after they suicide someone else will come to take their bounty before they can get to it? Or rather, they'll just have to be more coordinated to be right on the scene when the kill goes down.

What it means is that players may now mark their wrecks (as in, wrecks they've created), as FFA if they so choose. By default, wrecks will not be so marked. This doesn't change anything with suicide gankers, as they've always had to rush to grab loot before others do.

One would assume the wreck is marked by the owner of the wreck.. and the owner of a suicided wreck is the person that got suicided.. I cant work out how this change would effect them in any way..
Istvaan Shogaatsu: As with most such situations the answer is simple: rob them first. |

I don't see how this will stop a gang of destroyers ruining a hulks day.

Quote: Player owned wrecks can now be marked as "Available for all" which prevents CONCORD or criminal repercussions for taking from or destroying free for all wrecks.
You know, it's not that complicated. It's a simple statement that people will be able to voluntarily turn off aggro flagging for wrecks marked as belonging to them.
Things it doesn't say: - Players will now be able to lock you out of their wrecks. - There is a change to the way that player wrecks behave. - You will be CONCORDed for taking from, salvaging, target locking, or otherwise looking at someone else's wreck. - Jetcan miners will now be able to secure the contents of their jetcans.
All of these things are silly and are NOT included in the very simple and clear statement in the patch notes. Yet, in the past week I have seen each of the aforementioned misunderstandings being stated as categorical truth.
Here, let me paste the note again:
Quote: Player owned wrecks can now be marked as "Available for all" which prevents CONCORD or criminal repercussions for taking from or destroying free for all wrecks.

Ah, I misread, then. I guess I looked over the "can now be marked" and thought it was saying that they will be marked as Available for All.
Face it, though, "Player owned" is slightly ambiguous.

even with marking i dont see the problem here best case you have a hauler in your corp to get the lewt from the wreck, it cant really kill anyone who tries to ninja.

The other problem I see is that if I do a mission and want to mark the wrecks so an out of corp friend can salvage+loot for me without getting the stupid "OMG YOU WILL BE MARKED AS RED TO PLAYER XXX'S CORP" warning come up each time he loots, will I have to mark each wreck individually? Or can I do them all at the same time? say, all wrecks on grid. I'd rather not set the default to "allow all to loot" as you know you'll forget one day, decide to shoot that ninja and BAM concord hit you
The funny thing about this sentence is that by the time you've finished reading it, it's too late for you to realise it doesn't say anything. |
