Way I see it is that this dude's lolfit mega saved his ass. End of.
The fail part is being unable to kill a freakin tristan in a megathron. Even if you had no light drones, And no neut, with a web and scram ogre IIs will take out a frig in a coupla shots. And if the logi has the longer cycling large reps the frig should pop between reps.

This is just silly, you say I'm fail for using ECM to save my ship, but I wouldnt be fail if I used Nuets to save my ship. It's game mechanics either way.
You didn't use ECM to save your ship. Saying you did is kinda like a soldier saying he killed a enemy by making the enemy's gun misfire and kill him, or claiming that your hard work of playing lotto every weekend is what made you a millionaire. Truth be told, you are just a moron who got lucky.
Hmm... I think I found another alt to the "limp e-peen gang" that tried to trap me.
Pirate tears are delicious as well, even more so because the come from a veteran players, and to have your gang sing out so sweet and then sing so more here in the forums, I'm loving it, keep it coming "limpy."

Mmm...bacon...
*Ahem* However, as was already stated, a heavy neut is a far safer bet, given it's guaranteed to knock out a frigate's ability to do pretty much anything. I'd be more apt to say that an ECM is a risky fit, and pretty situational, especially given that the Mega doesn't get any sort of ECM bonus. Again, you're lucky he was in a frigate, since anything bigger would likely be too difficult to jam.
Anyway, that fit worked for you in that instance, but I wouldn't bet on it working most of the time. Ultimately, what it sounds like is that they were simply boo-hooing because you got out of their trap, and seeking some way to lash out at you because you made their e-peens go limp.
Next time, fit a neut.
All it takes is small neut to keep everything going on the frigate. A heavy neut has waaaaay too long cycle to be useful enough on frigates. ---- The Demigodess with a Conscience - An EVE IC Blog |

I would say you were fail if your intent was to kill the tristan.
Sounds like you were not expecting to fight a frig before you undocked and must have cycled through several ECM cycles to hit the Frig.
I applaud your courage to attack knowing that the alt would join the fight. Had you had your ship set up for that situation you would have had 2 kills and much more tears.
Failure is not accomplishing what you set out to do. What some idiots decide is fail or not shouldnt matter.

Edited by: PiratesBiteMe on 18/10/2009 09:09:00 its a easy formula to know in eve.
PvP pilots have glass egos
They win, you get 'epic fail' at fighting back. they loose, or you run off, you get 'epic fail' for not doing it better.
so formula is PvP/W-L=LOLNOOB
"PvP players/win-lose ratio=rationalization of how they can scream 'epic fail' to every situation to look like they have an ego boost."
much like the bullies of junior high that don't have the modesty to admit defeat despite the outcome. they must always come up with some sort of complicated retort that results in a false positive for their own saving of face.
Look at it this way, Just by being self confident enough not to have to try to prove yourself to people you dont know online, you already won the contest of egos.

There's alot of ifs and shoulds in your statement. "If the logi had large reps" well my guess is that he didnt this is a veteran player who would know that and would mount reps specifically for repping a fast dying frig and if I recall correctly he had repair drones and was giving cap to the frig as well to keep up the MWD.
I had a web on him and had orge II's and as stated before ripped through his shields and into his armour before any noticeable repair was gained, but when it was gained it was gained very fast.
Your epic fail is to realize that every situation is different in some way. Just because you may have been in a similiar situation and got the kill doesnt mean that what worked for you will work for someone else. Because everyone has different skill levels and different experience levels and everyone has different combination of ships and mods.

Edited by: General Coochie on 18/10/2009 13:32:36 I had ppl camping gates/stations specifically to kill me outnumbering me 10:1. So I buy a warp core stab or 3 to handle the inties points, then I happily leave the area, refit in next station and continue my roam. Campers go wtf, lol at me etc etc. If you use cheap tactics, like RR a frig that takes a bait can or simply use a blob you should expect to get cheap tactics back. You have no right to call someone fail and saying that the person is lame cause he did the only thing he could do to escape. In reality its them who failed, failed killing you despite putting 10 pilots on the job, so its not surprising that they go upset, they focus their own failure on someone else so they can preserve their own little ego.
For the purpose of "can mechanic fighting" obvious baits something like ECM would be perfect. There is no fail in it, loosing a t2 rigged mega with a "proper" fit to a tristan and a RR ship would be a lot worse.

i'm always hearing in this forum of pie-rats smacking about delicious carebear tears, but really pirate tears are the most delicious because they're "not supposed to cry" and when they do, they deny that they're crying at all.

Its not particularly epic fail to use ecm to escape from a t1 frig (though fairly embarassing). It is epic fail to bring it to C+P.

you shouldn't even use a multispec on an ECM ship (and some will disagree but they are wrong) so why use it on a mega?
just fit a flight of ECM drones

Figuring out how to equip your toon/ship/whatever through trial and error has always been one of the most enjoyable aspects of MMOs for me.
OP's mega was lolfit, but I bet he got more satisfaction and fun out of that escape than the tristan pilot would've gotten from blowing OP's mega.
