Dysprosium does exist in real life
About 100 tons are produced annually, 99% of that in China
And China is planning to stop all exports
Quote: The report indicates that China's current 35,000 tonnes per annum export quota for rare earths (REO) will reduce over the next six years, though no quantification of the degree of reduction is provided.
The report outlines plans to impose a total ban on the export of some rare earths materials. These include Dysprosium (Dy), Terbium (Tb) and Yttrium (Yt). Dysprosium is a critical material used in the enhancement of magnets in the electric systems of hybrid and electric vehicles.
No dysprosium, no T2 cars. Any trained RL alchemists out there?

Ok....so when does "doesn't exist in real life" mean the same thing as "doesn't occur naturally"?

IIRC all base moon minerals that exist in game are named after elements in the periodic table, whilst at uni I got to play with Dyspro wasnt as exciting as the EvE stuff

Edited by: Darius Brinn on 21/10/2009 17:23:29 There will be, indeed, the same production.
It will have to be conducted on Chinese grounds, which is the one and only objective of this policy.
Why sell us the stuff, when they can sell us the stuff AND force us to use it in a brand new factory in Shenzhen?

IIRC they mine a ton of stuff that, if not exactly that material, is very similar to it in my hometown. So yay, suddenly there will be a lot more interest in Lompoc!
