Just got back into EVE after a very long hiatus. Joined a new corp (this is an ALT) and was invited to join them in a class 5 wormhole.
I am quite experienced with PVE, or so I thought. I have NEVER had a tanked BS get smoked that fast ever, even when primaried in PVP.
What should I be looking for in a ship/group setting for relatively safe operations? I understand that currently even a carrier can be taken out by these groups. So any reasonable advice will be taken under advisement.

Lots of logistics ships and command ships is what you need. The logistics set up a spider tank and rep the command ships. You use command ships because they have boatloads of HP and really high reists and decent DPS, along with a smaller sig so they are a little harder to damage. --------------------------------------------

Use this sort of idea:
[Dominix, RR] Damage Control II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Armor Thermic Hardener II Armor Kinetic Hardener II Armor Explosive Hardener II 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I
Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Optical Tracking Computer I Omnidirectional Tracking Link I
Large Remote Armor Repair System II Large Energy Transfer Array II 350mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge L 350mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge L 350mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge L 350mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge L
Remote Repair Augmentor I Egress Port Maximizer I Trimark Armor Pump I
Ogre II x5 Heavy Armor Maintenance Bot I x5 Warrior II x5
The cap transfer+RR chain works best with 4-5 BS (mega, domi, phoon, tempest). Sleepers are also jammable, so a plated+DCU scorpion pilot with a bunch of random racial jammers is helpful.

We use shield tanked HACs backed by logistics (scimitar/basilisk). With small sig radius and higher base resists, HACs take considerably less damage from sleepers, particularly from battleships.

Me and my friends do those with RR-BS. We had 4-5 BS and a Damnation with Armored Warfare Mindlink.
The BS typically have 2x RR, 1 plate because Sleeper BS switching Targets can hurt, the plate gives you time to switch your RR to the primary.
The two RR are perma running. AS the Sleeper BS die, you can dropt to 1 RR active each, since they also tend to leech energy and wear you down.
Anyway, the Problem with just BS can be the little sucker sleepers that orbit at high velocity and gank any drones you put out quick.
We killed those by setting up two groups of BS at distand spots but in range of the guns to each other, and as the little sleepers switched targets and raced over to the other group we sniped them down.
A smaller ship just to kill those would be much faster tho, probably a T3 or Command ship.
Don't try to move while you are fighting, one of you will almost always be webbed, so stay in Remote Rep range and just sit it out.
Lows should be Damage mods (2), Plate and Resist mods, DCU, maybe a cap relay. Mids are cap rechargers, maybe a painter here and there. Highs should be Long Range guns, Sleeper BS sometimes maintain long range so Short Range is out.

Warrior IIs work really well for those, they're fast enough that the sleepers have a hard time taking them down and cheap enough that losing them doesn't break the bank.
Get everyone in the gang to fill up on warrior IIs and you can make short work of the bastards.

ive found the targeting system for sleepers relies on the biggest ship of the fleet - So with batleships and frigates, kill the frigates first. As long as your putting some hurt on the battleship, then frigates wont switch to your drones. Also works for cruisers.. Although bringing an abso or similar with some heavy pulse lasers eats frigates up real fast Blane Xero > Lance is at -0.9 sec status with a 1 million bounty. LAnce is also amarrian. Thats 3 evil points |
