Edited by: Sargeant Bash on 23/10/2009 01:33:57 Has anybody got any concrete evidence that a higher sec staus system is better. Every 0.0 region ive lived in i really havent seen a big difference, infact some of the higher ones -0.7 to -1.0 have not been great at all, and i think the -1.0 greatness is just a myth lol. Personally ive found best systems to be -0.4 to -0.6
Im trying to understand really and some real evidence what the difference is, there must be something otherwise why develop it, however ive yet to discover it, is it minerals? i defo dont think its better quality rats..

Bad troll. I've never been in 0.0, but I'll respond anyways, because it isnt hard. For one, yes, its minerals. true 0.0 space has **** worse then low sec, which makes me laugh. Also, its the difference between maximizing your chain at 3 million BS rats, and 1.3 million BS rats. Nope, definitely no noticeable difference.

If you say so. He asked if if -1.0 space was better then 0.0 space. I answered that -1.0 space has better minerals, and higher bounty rats. Definitely a nonsensical response, you're right.

Yes there is significant a difference between -1.0 and -0.7 rat spawns/faction spawns.
My evidence? 4 years in 0.0 across 8 different regions.

Spend a week in Providence.
Spend a week in any NPC 0.0.
You now know the difference in true sec value.

Better yet. If you can, spend a week in a good Delve or Querious system. or in fact anything with a sec status lower than -0.3. I was all over the place during my days with Shadow Company. Curse, Venal, Querius etc. The difference between a decent Providence system and a decent querius system is about 30 mil ISK per hour or more (Good provi belt ratting. 10 mil per hour. Maybe slightly more. Maybe 15 mil per hour. Good Querius belt ratting. 50 mil per hour). ______________________________________________ -My respect can not be won, only lost. What about how close a system is to npc space? I have ratted in a system with a -.4 that is 7 jumps away from npc space, and had worse rats than a system that was -.01 but next door to npc space. in the -.4 I would get maybe 1 or 2 best rat bs spawns, (one time through all the belts) but in the next door system, I would get maybe a dozen best rats easy.
And on that note, what is better, npc space ratting, or -1.0 ratting?

I'd like whatever dev hax you have seen able to chain 3 mil isk bs rats seeing as non-faction (therefore chainable) top out at 1.85 mil (seraphim/pope/tyrant/lord admiral/whatever the guristas one is) and faction (not chainable) starts considerably higher.
As for the op yes it makes alot of difference to rat quality, ore quality, explo site quality and the possibility of officer spawns. We the players have a significant impact though and it could well be that you are comparing properly chained -0.6/7 space to -1.0 space that has been hit with the kill everything approach or even not ratted at all (unlikely)

Edited by: Sargeant Bash on 23/10/2009 11:33:31 Firstly how is this a troll!! its a normal question, you know this is a forum hey guess what called Eve Discussion..
Ok guys you still coming up with no concrete evidence, and im not on about NPC infact Venal and Stain both NPC have some of the best rats around! So I dont believe you can compare that. Please dont answer spend this time here, 4 years this and that, well I have had 6 years so hey beat you to it..
I really really think its random, ive seen 1.85 mill rats in really low true sec, officers in again low true sec and faction well 90% of the time ive seen them have been in -0.4 - -0.6 ive never had one faction or officer in -1.0.
I what be nice to get some real stats, do large rats have more chance to spawn in higher true sec perhaps? CCP have created this true sec for a reason, and programmatically coded a formula in (i assume) unless whats the point of having true sec..perhaps just for pretence :) Im sure CCP may not share that information but would be good to get a high level overview from a Dev..
For those who get angry at a simple discussion - go seek anger management classes seriously..

from my observasions a -0.5 system, allows rats upto 1.5mil bounty -0.75 allowx iup to 1.85mil bounty but lower chance of a good spawn than in a -1.0. this is in any general 0.0 region

Yes there's a direct correlation to truesec. Easily viewable in the game.
The only wacked out thing is npc 0.0 rats. Apparently the rats spawn as if it's -1 true sec all the time. Meaning providence... cva has been there forever getting no good rats. While syndicate is getting officers. ------------------------ To make a megathron from scratch, you must first invent the eve universe. ------------------------ Life sucks and then you get podded. |

NPC systems where the belt rats are the same as the sovereignty holders, ie pirate faction 'home' regions = effectively -1.0 for rat spawns. Roids based on the real truesec [usually nothing wonderful]. NPC systems where the belt rats are NOT the same as the sovereignty holders [Great Wildlands, Syndicate etc etc] = truesec value dictates rat spawns and roids just like non-NPC-sov 0.0. .

Just FYI, i believe you are all wrong!
It's not JUST the true sec that defines what you get (or expect to get) in a certain system. Please have a quick look at this table.

That was all 182 systems in the database that will give you good rats in belts! ( YAY? \o/ ) As you can tell by that table, I've included the Security Class column. All of this is taken straight out of the eve database dump! (No, i didn't type it manually... duh!) What is important to note is the number after the letter, it is what decides how much ore/what type of ore and how high the bounties are. True-sec only follows suite with this number! That is, security class *7 is always in -0.85 to -1.00 sec space and the same applies the other way around... -0.75 to -0.85 is always *6 class space!
The LETTER decides what kind of space it is. K (the most common one) is the drone regions, drones spawn there!

It is a common misconception that there is any kind of difference between a -0.9 and a -1.0 system but this is just wrong... What makes the biggest difference between different systems is the asteroid belt count and the size of the system in AU. (Takes a long time to warp, time is ISK)
Happy hunting!

dude, it's not random at all.
I've spend a lot of time in 0.0, and the a -0.5+ system simply has higher value rats than crappy NPC 0.0 space. Crappy 0.0 has 600k BS spawns, a good system has many many more 1.1m+ spawns. Nobody who's lived in 0.0 for more than a year will contest the above statement.

As for the op yes it makes alot of difference to rat quality, ore quality, explo site quality and the possibility of officer spawns.
I'm not sure if the part that I bolded is necessarily true. I always thought, and felt from personal experience, that plex spawns were random and determined moreso by how often sites were ran in the system in question. Without compiling and analyzing a large set of data, it's impossible to determine. And it'll take a lot of plexing (or convincing plexers to give you data) to get a significant sample vOv

I really really think its random, ive seen 1.85 mill rats in really low true sec, officers in again low true sec and faction well 90% of the time ive seen them have been in -0.4 - -0.6 ive never had one faction or officer in -1.0.
Thing is if you only spend your time in Venal and Stain, it will appear indeed completely random for you. But it is not so overall.
All systems in NPC faction home regions are considered -1.0 sec as far as rat spawns are concerened. These Regions are Fountain (Serpentis), Curse (Angels), Delve (Blood), Stain (Sansha) and Venal (Guristas). And it doesn't matter what the sov of the system is either, If it is in one of these regions, it is considered -1.0 truesec for rat spawns regardless of the real listed truesec, and thus which spawns you get in which systems is comepletely random and down to pure luck. (Truesec STILL matters for ore even in home regions though afaik, not that I would ever touch a mining laser...)
And the rats are only limited on the top end regarding truesec, not on the low end. So in -1.0 you get the full spectrum, from lowly 500K you can also find in lowsec nowadays to 1.85 mil best farming stock, so if you are unlucky you can get just lowend **** even though it is a system as good as they get.
While in regions other than the 5 above, truesec does matter a great deal. For instance, the top end spawns only appear in roughly -0.75 and better (possibly lower, but from personal experience -0.75 is the lowest I have seen them in). And also from personal experience, I have only seen or heard firsthand of officers in systems that can spawn 1.85 mil rats. This is why those 5 regions used to be much more heavily contested/guarded than non-NPC home regions. Other regions usually have less than a handful of proper ratting places (-0.75 truesec and enough belts), and those concentrated in one or two constellations. While in a home region every system with enough belts is a ratters paradise. And if you are reading this, you have arrived at the signature without noticing...
