Edited by: Laciter on 23/10/2009 13:41:56 I had been running level 2 missions in my Omen, and it was an excrutiating bore. I hesitated to get an Arbi because of the drone skill requirement, but now I wish I had just gotten this from the getgo! To start, I would use this loadout:

It seems crazy, but it is super effective.
I tried it with only T1 mods and it worked great. Its overpowered enough where you could drop an extender and put in a drone nav computer in one of the mids to increase your range so you could focus on salvaging. Honestly, I didn't even need to use the hardener, so you might even be able to stick in an AB as well to get done with missions quickly. Dropping both might require a lot of drone skills though, and/or a rig to boost their survivability. Note: If you don't have high drone skills (like me), you can drop 2 of the salvagers and go with a small remote armor repper, and one long range gun as Kharnakh suggested to hold aggro.
Honestly, I started using a setup similar to this with only three medium drones, and it was actually more efficient than running missions in my crappy omen. Just make sure to keep "spare" drones handy. The fact that I didn't have to go back and get my salvager ship was a huge part in time savings. I currently have drones level 4 and 5 in my queue. I probably would have tried to skip drones altogether if I had not discovered how fun they, thanks to the Arbi.

After reviewing your setup I will admit that it is a more efficient mission ship than the Omen, but are you honestly trying to suggest that running L2 misisons with a drone boat, passive tank, and no afterburner is more exciting than the Omen?
Mission running with a passive Drake sounds absolutely riveting next to this plan.

There are more than a few lv 3 missions that an arbitrator can pull off actually, but it takes cruiser 5 and good drone skills ;) --------------------------------------------

I'm only speaking from my own experience. Mission running in an Omen was a total drag, no matter what fit I went with. The lack of AB isn't really an issue most of the time. I "outsource" most of my dps to my drones. Ok, maybe it's not exciting, but level 2 missions generally aren't exciting. If I just wanted a challenge, I would try doing them in a Punisher or just pvp. But just getting through them faster, and thus getting much better isk/hour, makes mission running a lot more tolerable.

If you like drone boats to do missions, that's up to you. However I would recommend that you get into a Vexor. It doesn't have any advantage over the Arbitrator, but the next step up for lvl3s is going to be the Myrmidon, and you'll need Gallente Cruiser skill for that. And after that is the king of all drone boats, the afk-Domi. Which again requires Gallente Cruiser skill anyway.

It's a nice ship isn't it.
Getting decent drone and skills up early isn't a bad bet for Armarr. They are incredibly useful in the bigger ships and provide them with some flexibility.
I second the Gallente ship training, a shield myrm is also a nice ship, though then you'll want to put projectiles on that.
Though at the same time I personally found flying a pulse harbinger enjoyable.

but by flying the arbitratior you develop your drone skills which are awesome, and very beneficial to flying a harbinger, and later w/e amarr bs
plus amarr looks better
