Edited by: Marko Riva on 23/10/2009 16:53:20 The Dutch are easily the rudest people, and I'm Dutch so I get to say it :P So obnoxious, inconsiderate and just plain blunt. Which reflects itself into the companies here in Holland resulting in annoying, rude and low quality service.
So I vote for Rotterdam and Amsterdam.

Also douche means nothing to most europeans, alternatively it means shower to some. I'd like to be a shower, everyone loves the shower and you get to see things...

I really have to disagree here. I love Paris and I love the Parisiennes and I have always found them to be accomodating. I could recount any number of tales but one sticks in my mind.
We were walking down the Pigalle (just South of Monmatre) on a Sunday morning with industrial strength hangovers after watching England beat France at the Parc Des Princes in the Five Nations when we saw a cafe owner washing the pavement outside.
"Monsieur. Are you open?" "Non, mon amies, not for another hour." "Oh. May we have a drink whilst we wait?" "Of course, entre."
And it was on the house too.
I've lost count of the number of times I've been there and I have always been made welcome. It's one of the few European capital cities in which I regret not having the chance to live in.

in portugal, "douche", phonetically, sounds like "duche" which is, in fact, shower ---

I second for Helsinki.
Bad food, horridly unkind people, uglyish center and just plain pain :( Intrestingly the kindest people are imigrants, whom ofcourse finns generally oppose and wish theyd all go away.

I travel often in my line of "work" (I play obnoxious music that people buy and dance to for some reason). If I were to use "most gigs" as reference, my only ones in London proved to be the least hospitable. There are certain things that I came to expect from my hosts. I didn't ask to have all the best food in the world or request ridiculous things, but it felt like they really didn't care for my well being. They really made me feel like I was asking the world of them when I asked for anything. But I've also played in a couple undescript German towns where they were the nicest people in the world and then begged me in private after the show for a reduced fee or to pay less because they couldn't afford what they agreed to pay before I flew there . But the people in London and 99% of all the German places were all very nice, these were just promoters.
day-to-day stuff and people on the street: barcelona has my vote. My first trip to barcelona, I unpack at my little temporary apartment place, go out on the balcony and what do I see/hear/smell? Someone urinating in the alley directly below. It set the tone for the whole trip. People were either filed under "pushy and rude" or "gross". Some of them MAY have been my friends though. :)

I have visited it thrice, I would agree that about the food, but what is this about architecture?
Anyway, Finnish people (as you probably know but maybe don't want to admit) want other Finnish people to go away and leave them in peace too, not just the immigrants. There are bright exceptions, of course, outcasts of our fine anti-social people. Anyone wager a guess why cell phones are popular here? But in all honesty, I have talked to two tourists who actually enjoyed their time in Helsinki. Job well done tourism industry, you make them feel home no matter how hostile the environment.
PS. I'm glad I live outside KehS 3 with all the bears and moose.

I've also visited thrice, and I've always found the people to be miserable and dour, though not especially rude. It's like a city full of people who just lost their favourite shirt in the wash.
As for all out rudeness, I'll add a +1 to Barcelona. The air itself is a hot miasma of urine, hate and grease. The only smiles I've seen there were smiles of malice. Everyone shouts constantly, perhaps to be heard through the thick, greasy air Not my favourite city.
