.. im a young and aspiring industrialist, working on a mac ( no flame YET please..) ... i have been looking around for a lot of the spreadshets, and most do a good job.. BUT .. being somewhat lazy as i am .. i thought id ask .. Are there any manufacturing/salvage spreadsheet out there that shows you what you can manufacture from the STOCK you have ? .. i.e if i had .. say 500 of EVERY salvage there is, a spreadsheet would show just how many runs of a... say .. anti-explosive screen SMALL i could get from my salvage stock ( and any other rigs/product) ?
.. now. feel free to let the flaming commence.....:P

This question has been asked before and it's a terrible way of going about deciding what to manufacture and here's why.
You may find yourself in a position where you can build a lot of items (collective term for ships, modules, drones ammos rigs etc), however only a small proportion of which may sell eventually if you hang in there.
Or you could be one single solitary unit away from being able to manufacture the hottest item that everyone wants but not enough people are building right now for whatever reason and could miss out on a huge profit opportunity.
What this question fails to grasp is the market research that is required. Sure people build stuff just to get it blown up or to say they've built that item for themselves all the time and that's fine and good and welcome of course, however when building for marketting you need to know what to build FIRST and THEN get it built obtaining the required items as cheaply and as quickly as possible.
Check the link in the sig that will tell you if you have enough materials to build what you chose to build (after doing the research or giving in to your materialistic desires), AND it will also tell you how many extra units you'll need to achieve your stated goal.
Have fun.

Hey Sidrat .. you make good points, and i do understand what you mean. Me being a positivist on the other hand also like the idea to see just how close i am to that nbergodlike item eveyone wants :P .. You said.." Check the link in the sig that will tell you if you have enough materials to build what you chose to build (after doing the research or giving in to your materialistic desires), AND it will also tell you how many extra units you'll need to achieve your stated goal." ... what link/sig was that ? :)

Doing this in Excel should be pretty easy, but tedious.
On sheet 1, do a matrix. Row 1 is salvage drops, starting in column C and working across. Column A is rigs starting in row 3 and going down. C3 is the number of units needed of salvage drop "C" to make rig "3". Enter the data for each cell.
Go to sheet 2, in cell C1, enter the formula =Sheet1!C1, then fill to the right. In cell A3, enter the formula =Sheet1!A3, then fill down. In cells C2 going across, enter the number of that drop that you have, working your way to the right. In cell C3, enter the formula =if(Sheet1!C3=0,99999,FLOOR(C$2/Sheet1!C3,1)), then fill that to the right and then fill down. In cell B2 enter the formula =MIN(C3:X3) replacing X with the actual final drop column, then fill down. Column B now has the number of rigs you can make of each type based on the salvage drops you have on hand.
I leave it as an exercise for the student to replace the matrix on Sheet1 with automatic values from some form of the static data dump. Bonus points if you use conditional formatting for highlighting.

A friend of mine produces a nice little app that does exactly that and will also tell you the projected profit, calculate how much of a given item you can produce given a specific bugdet (you input how much you want to spend and it will tell you what quantities you can buy for each needed item) and calculate how much you would to buy of other items given a stock imbalance (if you have too many trit bars and not enough fried interface circuits, it will tell you how many of each item to buy to do a production run and consume stocks to zero).
He only distributes it through an in-game mailing list ATM, so I'll send you an eve-mail with the details ;)

I would be interesting is seeing what this is as well. -- I often heard the Sky's the limit, sadly I'm broke fairly often. |
