I have seen most fits using those cap boosters. Is there anyway to use the Raven without, or is that pretty standard? |

You can look at changing the rigs to Large Capacitor Control circuits which will give you cap recharge and free up a mid slot. If you really want more cap recharge, you can replace the cap booster with a Cap Recharger II.

Using more then 3 ballistic control is not very efficient because of the stack penalty. Use a damage control unit II.
Also check Battleclinic for lots of other different ways to fit a Raven. |

Pretty typical to use a slot for a fitting mod that allows for a half-useless mod ? I believe it IS, actually, as so much Raven pilots seem to have no clue about how to fit one. |

Wrong, wrong, wrong. You fit for the minimum tank that you need. After that, only add damage mods. You mention efficiency; well, adding excessive tanking mods is the epitome of inefficient. |

Is this for mission-running? If so...
Zhillia's fit is very close. Skip the Drone Link Augmentor. Drop the co-proc II for a Damage Control II or Signal Amplifier II. Fit whatever else in spare high(s)
Yes, use the cap booster. It's one module for all your cap instead of 3 or 4 or more modules for cap. Perma-tank, perma-cap is not necessary.
Definitely use 4 Ballistic Controls. Sure stacking penalty is in effect, but the 4th one gives *more* damage. Which is better than less damage. A 5th one would be way past the point of diminising returns, however. Use at least T2. CN Faction is a good, bang-for-the-buck upgrade.
Use Rigor Rigs. CCC is a crutch and a waste.
Use a target painter.
Use Fury missiles for BC/BS targets.
That's my 2 cents on a mission Raven fit. Enjoy.

try this in 0.0 its a great bait setup and you will kill most people in single pvp...
rigs: 3 trimarks
lows: 1600 thungsten plate 2 energy adaptives 1 dcu II
mids: 100 mn mwd II 1 point 1 scram 1 webber 1 sensor booster (range script) 1 sensor booster (range script)
highs: 6 cruise launcher II 2 heavy nuets...
the trick is to rat at 200 km of the ping
then when the vega locks you let it... start shooting him too... start the mwd up and go right at him... once he is within 24km range put on the point and two nuets.. at this point you just capped him out and you can now get close enough to web and scram him...
he is toast...
this works every time either its a kill for you or he gets away... but you hardly ever die... oh and having a alt in a falcon cloaked next to you always helps :) |

Passive Ravens die. I lost two while learning this fact.
I don't use cap booster, but that is mostly because I am lazy and don't want to manage it. You can use a resist mod, or cap recharger instead.

It's a tight fit though. You might need to get a caldari navy ballistic control or a shield hardener to reduce the cpu load, or use a cpu implant. It has extra tank if you are new to the ravens but DC and/or PDS can be switched to a signal amplifier or another bcu if you prefer.
If you pimp it you can fit something in the empty highs but for the cost you might as well get a CNR while you are at it. |

Should it be passive or active for tanking? How about you put some bloody effort in. Is it for l4 missions? pvp? Give some info on the scenario you require a fitting for.
Or better yet there's a test server you can use to try out your eft efforts. If people just give you fits you're missing out on the best parts of eve(overcoming the steep learning curve).
Why don't you come back with the best fit you can come up with and then people can comment on it. You'll also learn more as people will explain what they don't like about your fit and passing on some knowledge to you.

Pretty sure the co-processor is there as you can't fit the rest with fundamental skills and by the time you have more than fundamental skills for a raven you're typically flying a CNR anyway. The co-pro adds something like 85 CPU, maxed out, meaning you may very well overshoot and have the required fitting for a DLA. That said, the fitting has no tractor beam which is quite a big concern as it's one of those mods that really can increase your mission income noticeably.

In which case CCC's would be even less useful and you'd be fitting either range rigs or CDFE's? |

Tip:
Cap Booster 800 BPC's are cheap.
Buy one, and manufacture them in your mission station using reprocessed T1 loot. That way you don't have to worry about transporting them in quantity. |

Another handy tip is to set up buy orders and then using couriers to bring it to the system of your choosing. This means you waste none of those precious manufacturing slots, you need not worry about free factory slots where you need the boosters and you can sell the minerals from your precious missionloot to better prices. |

It doesn't fit. If you want anything in the highs (DLA or otherwise; I tend to like a tractor beam) you have to use a co-proc or skip out on a fully T2 fit (either up to faction or down to named). The painter and booster already have to be named. In fact, it's so tight that the only items that fit in the lows are either a co-proc or something CPU-neutral.
Having said all that, I like the AB fit already posted above. That is, if I find myself running missions in a Raven. Which is very, very rare. |

I ran with this fit a while ago and it did pretty good. I had to be careful on Drone and Blood Raider/Sansha missions because of the lower EM resists.
[Raven, New Setup 1] Capacitor Flux Coil II Capacitor Flux Coil II Power Diagnostic System II Power Diagnostic System II Ballistic Control System II
Large Shield Booster II Invulnerability Field II Ballistic Deflection Field II Heat Dissipation Field II Shield Boost Amplifier II Cap Recharger II
Cruise Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Wrath Cruise Missile Cruise Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Wrath Cruise Missile Cruise Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Wrath Cruise Missile Cruise Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Wrath Cruise Missile Cruise Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Wrath Cruise Missile Cruise Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Wrath Cruise Missile Heavy Diminishing Power System Drain I Heavy Diminishing Power System Drain I
Large Core Defence Operational Solidifier I Large Core Defence Capacitor Safeguard I Large Warhead Rigor Catalyst I
Obviously this is not the highest DPS setup, but it was alright. Faction missiles will help your DPS a bit, or if you can fit T2, thats even better. You can also switch the rigor rig for a RoF rig for some extra DPS.
The cap is stable at ~38% w/ my skills and w/o implants. You could invest in a low-grade Crystal set to up your tank, and some other implants to squeeze out a bit more cap. If thats the case, then switch the operational solidifier rig for another cap safeguard, and you can switch some of the low slot mods for less cap regen and more DPS.
Again, this is a rather low DPS fit, probably not the best at tank or gank, but its something to work with and tweak to your liking.
After this you can try:
[Scorpion Navy Issue, New Setup 1] Ballistic Control System II Ballistic Control System II Ballistic Control System II Damage Control II
Caldari Navy X-Large Shield Booster Shield Boost Amplifier II Heavy Electrochemical Capacitor Booster I, Cap Booster 800 Invulnerability Field II Photon Scattering Field II Heat Dissipation Field II 100MN Afterburner II Target Painter II
Cruise Missile Launcher II, Paradise Cruise Missile Cruise Missile Launcher II, Paradise Cruise Missile Cruise Missile Launcher II, Paradise Cruise Missile Cruise Missile Launcher II, Paradise Cruise Missile Cruise Missile Launcher II, Paradise Cruise Missile Cruise Missile Launcher II, Paradise Cruise Missile [empty high slot]
Large Warhead Rigor Catalyst I Large Warhead Rigor Catalyst I Large Core Defence Capacitor Safeguard I
This has the same DPS (better with T2 missiles and the BCU's) as the Raven above, but a much more forgiving tank. As some others have said, fit for the absolute least tank you can tolerate (there are lots of resources on how much tank you need) and fill the rest with things that increase your damage.
The faster you kill the rats/mission baddies, the less tank you need to have!
Enjoy

I did put a good amount of effort in, because I knew asking here might get a response like yours :)
The problem is I don't even know where to start when it comes to why use such and such a mod in the mods, how many, or what to use in the lows.
I was looking for an L4 Mission Runner. I was also trying to find one that might work well if I need to clear a Ladar or Grav Site in a WH, but not run sleepers with it because apparently they dont work well for that.
I can fly a Tengu, just kind of frustrated that I wasted the time to train Cruise Missiles to V when it seems the ship has no use. |

1. as mentioned CCC is french for bad bad bad on a raven. Rigor FTW. 2. IMHO SBA's suck. You will get a much better/sustainable tank with invulns/hardeners and overheating. 3. Target painter is an absolute requirement. 4. Cap booster 800 is probably your best bet, although its a ***** to learn how to use, and an uber ***** to learn at low SP.
That being said I have lost ships to burning out modules and running out of cap with cap boosters. Eve learning curve FTW. Yes, I've made every penny back since. |
