Heya,
I've been playing the game for 2 months, and I've reached the Battleship class. There are times when I want to start building up standings with a new corporation, and usually I have to start with their level 1 agents.
The problem is that the level 1 agents lead me to accelerator gates that have ship restrictions. That means I cannot use my Battleship and have to downgrade to a Cruiser ship. I find this annoying and I don't understand why this is being implemented. I have done level 2 missions which do not have this restriction.
Is it possible for ship restrictions in agent missions to be removed?

using a battleship for anything below lvl4s (maybe lvl3s)is waste of time anyway. you wait longer to log the ships than to kill them.

It's not so bad with sensor boosters. But even if it really took obscenely long, at least I would like the choice to do level 1 missions with my Battleship.

So you are saying that there already is a gameplay reason, that makes using larger ships inefficient in low level missions. There is no reason to maintain artificial gate restrictions then, is there?

It would be nice to use my carrier on gated lvl5's . All I have to say on the topic. -----------------------------------------------------

Well if restricted in anyway .. you should get that information before you accept the mission.
imo this should include missions that takes you out in lowsec also.

Maybe, just maybe, a battlecruiser is WAY overpowered for lvl 1 missions, making the already too easy missions nothing but a walk in the park? lvl 1 missions are already a joke in a cruiser, they're "not hard" in destroyers, while I'd qualify them as "interresting" in a frigate. And that's without using any tech II's.

"not hard" in a destroyer? I would have gone with "stupidly easy" - Verin "Stitcher" Hakatain. |

Edited by: XIII''th on 24/10/2009 12:06:10 You're Gallente right? Make two skills - Gallente Frigate V and Assault Ships I and buy Ishkur, youll kill every rat in lv1, lv2 and even lv3 missions in no time, even lv4 missions are doable in this little bastard, but you'l need good skill for that.

Restrictions make sense, but it would be nice to be able to check info on a accel gate and be able to tell what kinds of ships are allowed.

It is usually safer and faster to change ship sizes and types depending on the level of the combat mission you are attempting. Depending on skill, experience and preferences, several ship classes may be used on the same mission type.
Mission Level Primary Ship Alternate Ships Level 1 Frigate, Destroyer Anything reasonably fast Level 2 Cruiser AF, Destroyer, Battlecruiser Level 3 Battlecruiser, HAC AF, BS, CS, Recon Level 4 Battleship, CS Battlecruiser, HAC, Combat Recon Level 5 Group of players -
found at about 75% down the page. What CCP is giving us players is the benefit of the doubt of having common sense and skill. Plus these locks to make you have common sense and skill if you lack it lol. If you can't make lv 1's easy after working gun/missiles/drones and the tank preference and the basic pwer and cpu supprt for your race on a frigate/destroyer, you need to rethink your eve skills and fitting strategies. Or else it gets real painful later.
Why the lock? I am thinking to make sure next step less painful for most new players. Buying a bigger ship for a tough level 1 is not the answer. So CCP makes sure they aren't wasting their isk. Couple hours of training and voila they can actually hit the broad side of barn harder and move on. If going back for standing with another corp its an annoyance, but you should be at a mostly T2 fit frigate after a few months anyway. T2 fit frigate is a lv 1 farming machine. Enjoy the ride...I have ratted many hours in a drake in null sec, I personally find a ship that isn't so slow it goes backwards in time to be a very nice change of pace lol.

Doesn't help much with exploration though. showing the data on info would.

If you constantly run into gate restrictions, it should indicate something to you. Let me spell it out for you: Yer using too much ship for the mission level.
Eve is a learn and discover on your own type game. Granted it's not always intuitive, but it's not meant to be. You don't need a BS for anything smaller then a level 3. Period. You really don't need them for lvl 3's either, a battlecruiser would serve you much better there.
1 - frigate, destroyer, maybe cruiser but med guns don't work well on frigates. 2 - destroyer, cruiser, maybe battlecruiser if you are into overkill. I don't even know if a BC always fits. 3 - cruiser is a bit underpowered here but will work for some. BC is your ship of choice. BS is feasible, but again, large guns don't work well on frigates or cruisers and they are way slow. 4 - You can runs some or most with a BC depending on skill. They just don't put out enough damage for some missions though. Pretty much BS only if you wanna take the guess work out. Don't expect to be able to solo them all without decent (lvl 4 all round) skills and a proper fitting. Bring friends for safty when learning and insure your ship.

1) Rights? In EVE? 2) It simply is unballanced, since there's even less of a challenge than doing it in a cruiser, which is already near AFK mode for lvl 1 missions 3) The money may not be worth it to you, things are relative 4) However, the reputations are probably worth it to you, otherwise you wouldn't bother, right? So rep isn't worth downgrading to a cruiser for missions, while you can still merrily fly other ships while you're not doing missions? 5) Did you ever consider mission quality and the effect that flying an overkill-ship might have on it?
