I'm new to game, about 2.5 mil SP or so. I've remapped to Int/Mem and training up my support skills for another month or so. Then another month of gunnery/spaceship skills for a battleship to do lvl 4's to make ISK and PvP.
I've looked at the Navy ships and they're supposedly 'better' but I don't see it. A Navy Apoc has 1 more low slot for another Heat Sink and more EHP, which is useless for missions.
So what's the point in spending 600-700mil for a Navy BS when it's marginally better? I'm thinking just better to save up for a Nightmare instead.

1 more heat sink = more dmg = less time in a mission but over all the nightmare is better more training tho

For an Amarrian mission runner an extra low slot is a glorious thing.
Whether you add a tank mod or a heatsink you have increased you ability to run missions.
And given the lack of a damage bonus to the Apoc you really can't go wrong with 4 heatsinks.
If you want to do Amarrian missions you want to go Apoc-Navpoc-Paladin.
The Nightmare is a better ship than the Paladin. But there is a lot of training to do to get it working right and it can cost a lot more to fit.
Or you can take the fastest path to lvl 4 mission domination by skipping all the BS BS and getting into a Tengu. It takes a hell of a lot less training time to fly a strat cruiser well than a BS of any race. It just costs a fortune. But you can make money by scamming, begging and ninja salvaging.

With the next patch (December) the Navy Apoc also gets more powergrid and CPU, so it will be much easier to fit.

It's also getting a slightly larger (25m3) drone bay and 25% more scan res!
Additionally the extra buffer isn't really "useless;" while it's certainly not the most relevant thing it does make the ship a little more forgiving. I wouldn't pay 600-700 mil for it though either...

Some like to go for the 2nd pump and only fit the AB when needed. I just like having it always there unless you really need the cap stability, as the tank is more than enough(And if it isn't, you have the AB).

Yep, look at elis fit. Just dont forget that in some missions you dont need tank at all so load yourself with additional heatsinks, tracking enhancers and computers. For some missions /some blood raiders start at 90-100km/ use beams.
And yes, Nightmare is much better than napoc for missioning, but needs caldari bs and shield skills too. And i consider napoc better missioner /and more user friendly/ than baddon.

I prefer the abaddon to the navy apoc but I also have BS5 and the cap skills to actually run the damn thing. A newer player will not have the cap skills to run an abaddon properly in pve so I recommend apoc/navy apoc to start. The fit above is pretty good though you will likely need to adjust some as skills and isk demand. Also, for missioning in high sec, I'd take a paladin over a nightmare. -----------------------------------------------------

I don't think the Navy Apoc is worth the money. It's not a big improvement, and if you lose it, from inattentiveness or random bad luck, you're going to be very sad.
I'd agree with the guy above me and suggest you start with the regular Apoc, move into the Abaddon as your skills develop, and then start thinking about Nightmare or Paladin for the long term.

honestly this is the best option, navypoc sucks
although the navy geddon may or may not be fantastic. didn't really take a good look at the fittings. although that is mostly if you have good drone skills.
at super lowskills I'd fly the apoc, low-medium skills abaddon, highskills paladin/nightmare.

You need to remember in eve (as opposed to most other mmo games) the only thing that costs money in eve is skills and implants.
Rest of stuff you can always sell again.

Navy Apoc is burning a lot of isk when you get a free HS II and EANM II bundled into an Abaddon. Means you can give up 1 low for a CPR and still effectively have 8 lows.
I do agree that moving onto a Paladin / Nightmare later is optimal, though you're spending a lot of isk for relatively little benefit considering that an Abaddon can still belt through missions.

Are you running missions for the sake of running missions?
If so then yeah a Tengu is probably enjoyable, if you're running missions for isk then probably not worth it.

I haven't tried any pve fits on the new navy geddon but as far as fittings it has them in abundance. I was easily able to fit a full rack of megapulse, large armor rr, mwd, point, web, heavy cap booster, 3 heat sinks with a lulz huge buffer tank off base fittings so it should have no issues fitting any type of pve fit you can throw at it. Also with the drone bay boost you can fit 5 heavys and 2 sets of lights which will be very very nice for missions.
