Edited by: ThePhoniex on 25/10/2009 17:04:43 Hello all, I am about to try and work my way through the mechanic skill tree while i am remapped for int/mem and I just had some questions about the skills and how they work and what lvl i need them at so here we go!
1)Only the armour/skield/drone rigging skills reduce the penalty on rigs correct? jury rigging does not? So do i need jurry rigging at a 5? the skill does not seem to do anything beyond lvl 4.. 2)The armour skills (em/therm/exp/kin).. do these skills only work with hardners? I mean if i use a Energ Adapt nano membrane will that get any bonus from those skills. I dont understand the "passive hardners" term in the skill description: does that mean hardners that are off or like resistance plateing or energized plates.. any help would be nice! 3)finally salvaging! I fly a salvage fitted destroyer with 3 salvag tackle 1 and the salv skill 3: Will I be able to salvage adv sleeper BS with this fit/skillset or do i have to have salv 4? I have seen many posts that are contra-dictory on this topic and some clarity would make my soul feel good:) since once i find a adv sleeper BS i will prolly not be int/mem speced anymore...
Thanks for any answers!

1) Jury rigging V should be trained when you see you need it for something, the skill gives no bonus pr level 2) yes, those skills work with EANMs making them completely awesome 3) Should be fine i believe.

Edited by: Kirzath on 25/10/2009 18:36:01 1) I don't believe there's any use for Jury Rigging V in the game yet. 2) They work on passive resistance modules (EANMs, Nano Platings), and on active hardeners only when they're inactive. 3) Salvaging 4.

To add to #1, Jury Rigging 5 is a requirement to manufacture T3 subsystems.

Thanks for the responces guys! But as always.. question 3 seems to bring up a contraversy.. So 1 vote for not needing salv 4 and 1 vote for salv 4..
Anyone else want to vote or can point me to some developer blog or evelopedia site that simply tells me what is required to salvage adv sleeper Bs..

Just get Salvaging IV to be safe...heck, you could get it to V for the T2 salvagers. On another note, I also have an annoying sig.

My philosophy on the matter is:
"If it's worth training, it's worth training to at least 4, if not 5." ---

Salvaging works like this : on one side you have the skill/item/rig values for your "access difficulty bonus" attribute, on the other side you have a HIDDEN penalty modifier coming from the wreck being salvaged. The DIFFERENCE between your total "access difficulty bonus" chance to salvage and the wreck difficulty is your ACTUAL chance to salvage per cycle. Obviously, if the former is smaller in absolute value than the latter, you can't salvage at all since you would have a "negative" chance to salvage, and all you get is a message telling you to train your Salvage skill to a higher level (even if adding salvage tackle rigs would have the exact same effects).
In other words, 3x T1 salvage tackle rigs with L1 salvaging and a T1 salvager is exactly the same as no tackle rigs and a T2 salvager (L5 salvaging necessary) - both would give a 35% "access difficulty bonus" value, and allow you to salvage absolutely everything in-game at this time. So, no, you don't need more than L1 salvaging if you dont mind using salvage tackle rigs galore and salvaging the "difficult" stuff very slowly.
