Scammer name: Willowrosenberg Location: Jita
This guy has offered me to trade his Raven Navy Issue for my Full set of Improved Implants+5 (5 pieces) and kept on convincing me that the ship is easy to sell, he linked me the real raven navy issue ship, then during the trade, he replaced it with a ship named Raven Navy Issue, I thought that's the ship, so I accept the trade without thinking. After the trade, I right click it and found out it's got 'view market details' option available then I clicked it and found out its real value is roughly 75m, then I repackaged it and found out IT'S A RAVEN BUT NAMED AS 'RAVEN NAVY ISSUE' :( With a rough calculation, I lost around 500-550m isk to him, such an ******* scammer deserve some punishments with no doubts >:( And I believe the one who deserve more punishment will be these ship model designers, lack of efforts, making these ships have exactly the same appearance, if they paid some extra time to remodel it or change its appearance even a bit slightly, a lot of scams could've been avoided!!! >:(((

Edit: Sadly you have to have someone able to fly it change the name. Alts that can't fly it can't change the name. Also, is there an issue with the length of the name coming into play? How long can a name be?

So you got scammed and that means you need to pick on the ship model designers because some ships look alike?
Aside from that, always check the info on a ship in a contract before you accept... always. |

As many have said already, ALWAYS check info before accepting the contract/trade. Blaming the designers for this is lazy and stupid, you're only trying to blame anyone but you for this mistake. Mistakes happen, scams happen, learn from it and move on.
On the small chance this isn't a troll, the obvious answer to why a lot of ships look alike is, they have the same hulls. Although they usually have a color difference, checking the info on the ship will catch the scam every time. Best of luck in your continued adventures in Eve. Be glad this lesson ONLY cost you 500mil. |

500m isk means a lot to me, I'm not a hardcore player, cannot generate more than 10m isk per day. :( Well, ur right, this lesson taught me not to trust anyone in game nor in real life, and more than that the global econ recession situation in real life directly reflected in the virtual world too, but still this lesson was way too pricy for a newbie, doubt I'll be able to move on!~ T_T

1. You can do the same thing he did and get regain your losses. Surely there's at least one other idiot in Jita ripe for a scamming. 2. Don't ever buy a house, car, or join the military. Those contracts require "slightly" more reading and can cost you lots of RL ISK and even get you shipped off to die in some 3rd world country you didn't even know existed. 3. If you have any stuff left, can I have it?

You are a rude little man with a lot of anger, I for one applaud Willowrosenberg for what seems to me, to be a perfectly legitimate business transaction.
He gave you a ship, you gave him implants, what does the name of the ship have to do with anything? If the values are scewed, well that just means he's the better trade.

Rude? I don't think so. With a bit of anger? Of course! Before we trade, he promised that he would trade a Raven Navy Issue for my +5 implants, but he gave me a fake one and you call that a perfectly legitimate business transaction?! Even newbies won't agree to trade full set of +5 implants for a raven unless he cheated. A single +5 implants would worth 50-60m more than a raven, not to mention full set of 5 implants. Imagine how do you feel if ur the one who's receiving the faked raven navy issue at this point...

Don't worry about it Xeth Hu... there will be plenty of opportunity for you to make some ISK off the back of someone elses hard work. Just remember that in Eve, like in real life, that everyone is somebody elses breakfast at some point.
And whether you're beating/scamming someone else, or having your own arse handed to you, it should be fun either way. If it isn't, then you're doing it wrong.

To be honest, this scammer had to put in plenty of effort to scam you. He had to wait until the right target appeared who MIGHT bite. Then he had to go through the trouble of pulling enough social scamming on you to get you to believe him, then capitalize on your laziness and get you to accept it, all while crossing his fingers that you don't discover it.
The problem is that your concept of effort and entitlement is different than his, and because of that you feel like you lost and that you were robbed.

first of all ur statement is wrong, I rarely made any mistakes in real life. Since I stayed away from eve for over a year, and I just reactivated 3 weeks ago and made this alt, nice to get scammed right after I came back to the game, everything seems new to me again, plus the game has a lot of stuff that can confuse players sometimes. So you better stop calling ppl stupid unless you are a really brilliant guy in real life, I'd say careless is a more suitable word for players who got scammed by others.

Hi!
I am really sorry about your loss. And I want help you to recover it and probably make some nice profit. Years ago, when the t2 bpo lottery was still in place, I opened my mail one day and what did it say? I won a Vespa II bpo. Hooray! Since that day I had my own isk printing machine, and was happily using it all day long. Today I have like 50b isk in my wallet and realized that I am not going to be lucky only logging in every day or two, putting on some factory jobs, checking my sell and buy orders and watching growing my wallet bigger.
After reading your story I decide to give this bpo to you. However, to make sure you honor it and make use of it I require a deposit of one 1 billion isk into my wallet. When I received the payment I will contract it to you in Kaunokka.

You made a mistake in-game, then expect merc's, pirates and scammer's who patrol these forum's to have sympathy? Head over to MD for that kinda stuff, all your doing here is proving that someone outplayed you, you lost money, and now your butthurt. The renaming then trading is the oldest trick in the book, and now because of this guy, you won't fall for it again, consider it a lesson, an expensive lession, but a lesson nonetheless.

I don't feel bad, people get scammed all the time in this game you should know that by now. Many actually make a living off of scamming naive people like you. Whether its replacing items in a trade window, having offered 500mil deposit GOON recruitment or even falling for something as obvious as contracting scams - if you fall for it, its your fault. Going around b****ing about it is not gonna make your problems away and ccp wont even bother looking at your case. If you lose, you lost, go out and mine for the next few days to get the isk back and don't fall for something like this again.

makes you a total of 24 days old, claiming to only make 10m a day gives a total of 240m, how have you aquired a full set of +5's?
have 2 hints, stay out of jita, and stay out of eve.
If you really traded 600m worth of implants for a standard raven and think it's the graphics departments fault then eve is perhaps not the game for you.
Did you read my replies? I clearly indicated this is my new alt, not my old account...

Hello. Noob here. I found your story amusing.
You have my sympathies, to be sure, but only in the "Yeah, been there, done that, funny as hell." kinda way. This happened to me in meatspace - don't ask - and I don't even chalk it up to "Lessons Learned" so much as to a moment of simple absent mindedness. No one needs to scam in this game - even piracy is more justifiable here - putting it below pod-killing here. But it is still just a game in the end. Smile, shrug and move on.
I do take issue with your calling out the 3D modelers though. Look at a car lot some times. There you will find multiple editions of a single car that have the EXACT same body, but different colors, interiors and specs. You're describing a different edition of one model of ship. Of course it will look the same - or nearly so. That's not lazy, that's realism.
Just remember to check the specs next time, mmmmm kayyyy?

Good grief, people still fall for this old scam?
Next time, use the contract system...
That aside, I see the trade window with someone you don't trust as more of a stpudity filter. It filters the stupid people from their shiney stuff. Removed. Please keep your EVE signature related to your EVE persona and not that of a real life politician. Navigator |

Ive only been playing EVE for a month in a half or so, I dont scam and hate being scamed.... The best part about this game is the fact that this stuff happens and you have to watch your back, the fear of losing something of value in this EVE universe is the draw. The corp that im helping to build has lost over 1-2 bil in lessons of EVE, weather it be suicide ganking or just shear stupidity. Our Motto: Yet another lesson learned the expensive way in EVE.. I love it.

This guy named Willowrosenberg has offered me to trade his Raven Navy Issue for my Full set of Improved Implants+5 (5 pieces) and kept on convincing me that the ship is easy to sell, he linked me the real raven navy issue ship. Then he suggested to trade face to face in station for saving some isk from making a contract, and I couldn't believe that I agreed(probably I stayed online for too many hours and not in conscious). And during the trade, he replaced the real Raven Navy Issue with a ship named Raven Navy Issue in the trade window, I thought that's the right ship, so I accepted the trade without thinking. After the trade, I right clicked it and found out it's got 'view market details' option available then I selected the option and found out its real value was roughly 75m, then I repackaged it and found out IT'S A RAVEN BUT NAMED AS 'RAVEN NAVY ISSUE' :( With a rough calculation, I lost around 500-550m isk to him, such an ******* scammer deserve some punishments with no doubts!!! GM's won't care about such scam issues anyway and the game will eventually lose all the good players!(we'll see in the future) >:( And I believe the one who deserve more punishment will be these ship model designers, lacking of efforts and made lots of those T1 & T2 ships have exactly the same appearance, (for example, Vexor & Ishtar). if they ever paid some extra time to remodel it or change its appearance even a bit slightly, a lot of scams could've been avoided!!! >:(((
So here I'd like to let you guys know, if some strangers request a trade with you or attempt to start a private conversation with you, pls be more cautious or just reject them right away, don't be too nice to them, their motivation probably is just for attempting to scam you. Double or even triple check items before click 'accept'...
The same thing happened to me during my first month in eve a few years ago. I thought i was buying a Cerberus and ended up with a Caracal. I was so ****ed i undocked the Caracal with Saul and blew the crap out of it with my alt. Always check the info on the ship before accepting the trade. There is no point in petitioning as CCP views scamming as an ingame tactic. Learn from your mistakes mate. I wish you all the best. Saul.
