I don't know if there any other wheel of time fans out there, present or former, but the latest book written by Brandon Sanderson after Robert Jordan's death delivers.
Finally wrapping up resolved plot lines and moving forward in an amazing way. I don't know if it's what Jordan intended, but Sanderson does what Jordan should have done long ago. And with the last two books to be released each fall for the next two years, it will finally be finished.
I highly recommend taking a look if your a past fan, current fan or on the edge. _______________________________

Edited by: Destination SkillQueue on 28/10/2009 06:47:18 I started to read the series a few years ago and after reading thousands of pages was pretty ****ed to find out the series was incomplete. I'll read the rest and finish the series, when it is actually complete. I don't want to read the rest in little tidbits, but it is good to know the series is getting finally finished.
EDIT: It is propably pretty close to what Jordan intended. He knew he wasn't going to make it, so he worked hard to sketch out what he intended to do and wrote as much as he could, so the series would have a proper end even if he wouldn't be the one to finish it.

Which one was the last that Jordan himself wrote?

I didn't know B12 was out yet! Thanks for the heads up, very exciting news! Will have to order it soon I started reading the series just as B7 was coming out, so read 1-7 straight off, with some pleasure actually as many fans moaned bitterly about the wait between 6 and 7. Saying that, I had to wait for 8 thru 11 (and now 12!) just like everyone else. I think I've forgotten most of what's gone before but it'll come back, I'm sure.
Great series all in all, but not all the time. Some parts are slow, or boring or I don't like particular characters (Faile! GRRRRRR! ), but it's an incredible world and it will be nice for the closure.
Most important question though...if your were Rand, which one would you pick (and why)? Aviendah, Elayne or Min? -------------

I can't remember how long ago this was... but there were dinosaurs... I found the first three books rubber-banded together as a trilogy at a 2nd hand book-store. I bought them, and really got into them, and was quite annoyed to find out that they weren't a trilogy. (I was starting to get worried about 1/2 way through Book 2)
I forgot about it for a while, then when I saw they were up to book 6, I asked the salesperson at Borders Bookshop whether the series was complete, and I was told yes... so I bought the next three.
I fell for the same ruse at book #9... at which point, I realised that the last 3 books could have been squeezed into a paragraph or two of a 'normal' series, and decided I'd had enough.
I don't care how it's finished, or whether it's supposed to be great or not. It's been left hanging far too long, and I'm damned if I'm going to read the whole lot again to catch up with where I left off.

Bought it and reading. Nothing like the horribly slow pacing in Books 6-10. Things happen in this book, and it's well done.
+1 to recommended. It's a large book though.

Min. She isn't a ***** and actually supports Rand, whatever happens. She doesn't try to change him or guide him, she just loves him. _______________________________

Sigh, I don't even remember if I finished reading the 10th book or not. Since I have to know how the whole story ends I guess I have to read the remaining books but I won't be doing it any time soon.

Holy crap! The wheel of time actually have something happen?? Blasphemy!
I keed I keed.
I read up to book 9 (well if dont count skipping book 8 by suggestion of friends). Its a really awsome series. I havent touched the books since high school (going on about 7 years ago now).
Really awsome setting and story. Just too drawn out.

I started this when the series came out which is literally probably before some people here were born.
I too have been frustrated with the slooow pace of the series and seemingly endlessness to the series. I was beginning to wonder if I would die of old age before it was done.
Then of course Jordan had the gall to up and die on us before it was done.
So, just saying I feel your pain.
That said the end is this book and two more. That is confirmed. Jordan left notes and wrote some things to apparently the end is a done deal. Just needs to be published. I expect one per year but who knows?
As for catching up the best thing to do is read book #11 (Knife of Dreams which was thankfully not as bad as the previous 3-4 books). Read a synopsis on the web. I think that will get you up to speed so #12 can be enjoyable.
All accounts I have seen so far say this is perhaps the most fun book yet of the series so guessing it is a worthwhile read.
