One lone Minmatar Militia rifter pilot undocks in the Auga star system. He renames his ship "Suicide" with a heavy weight on his mind as he knows that tonight the odds are he will die. Many of his fleet mates feel the same way. They know they will be outnumbered and face much larger ships with greater firepower.
21:00 hours EVE time the diabolical Amarrian fleet converged on the Star Fraction POS in Kamela joined by their Mercs for hire, Caldari militia, Goonswarm and others. Long range sensors had trouble determining the number of ships but local authorities estimate the total number of enemy ships to be greater than 300 battle heavy ships to include mostly battleships with a contingent of cruisers, guardians and interceptors. The system soon plunged into chaos as large fleets of coalition forces jumped into Kamela to engage the enemy fleet. The subspace disturbances wreaked havoc on ship instruments and even many ground installations causing severe lag. At the height of the battle some 425 ships were actively engaged in the star system.
The task ahead is an impossible one. The mission to kill as many small enemy ships as possible. Minmatar military analysts expect to have huge losses and instruct their fighter pilots to launch frigate, interceptor and cruiser class vessels.
At 21:30 hours the Minmatar militia launched their fleet and headed for the Kamela star system. An ominous feeling was in the air as entire star systems in the wake of many of their fighters trying to meet up with the main fleet in different star systems reported no ship activity in those systems. The battle of Kamela would happen in Kamela. "We are all gonna die" was heard over militia voice comms which was answered by a deadening silence.
As the Militia fleet arrived at their overview of the Star Fraction POS, Fleet Commanders assessed their strategy. Two sweeps of fighters went towards the outer edge of the massive enemy blob to engage an enemy Cormorant and Tristan, but the subspace distortion from the sheer magnitude of the energy emitted by the active ships in the system prevented ship systems from operating accurately and completely lagged out by 20 seconds and the enemy had responded by warping out.
Minmatar Fleet Commanders issued the order to warp out of the POS blob to a nearby planet to regroup and reassess while coalition forces were engaging the enemy at the POS. Soon after the Militia forces landed on Kamela Planet V an enemy Raven warped in. The Militia quickly engaged the Raven with their frigate and cruiser fleet. Voice comms erupted with shouts "Point, point, point" as the enemy Raven was quickly subdued. Minmatar Fleet Commanders were quick to form a "drag net" strategy and sent pilots to every planet, moon and asteroid belt with instructions to snag all enemy vessels warping out of the POS battle.
The strategy proved to be a valuable asset to the Minmatar militia as they pounded battleship after battleship warping into their star system dragnet. One of the two primary Minmatar Fleet Commanders, who will only be identified as CODE NAME: "Bulldog" for security reasons, was quoted as saying "Our strategy of using smaller, faster ships has given us absolutely fantastic results! At one time we had so many engagements we could not stop flying from planet to planet and killing battleships! We'd just have our point on them and keep them there until we were done killing what the main fleet was working on and then go to the next battle."

The battle raged for just over 2 hours. Reports indicate that Minmatar forces lost 22 frigate class vessels, 1 interceptor, 1 hound, 1 helios and 5 cruiser class by the battle's end. Enemy losses were much greater numbering at over 80 ships, mostly battleships as well as a small contingent of logistics, battlecruiser and cruiser class vessels. Coalition force numbers are not in yet, however after long range scanners returned to normal they indicated that the Star Fraction POS had fallen in the assault.
The battle is a true military victory for Militia forces. The sheer ISK value exacted out of the Amarrian and axis forces was by far greater than the cost of the coalition POS or the 30 frigate class vessels fitted with T1 modules that were lost.
The Minmatar pilot who named his ship "suicide" did not lose his ship though being engaged constantly throughout the battle. A sense of euphoric pride was last seen on his face.
WU TANG comrades!

Ah yes - Goonswarm - and with "others", I bet you refer to the fact that they were joined by BoB, m0o and the famous pink elephants...

Only those reported to be seen on field. There were many reports of others but I wont include names of the others that I cannot accurately verify.
I dont know about Amarrian pink elephants but if they had them Im sure they would be there too.

Edited by: Kaito Kenshin on 01/11/2009 14:09:15 Last night's fight was really nice for us. I'm not sure when my modules were active or where exactly I was, but the shooting literally didn't stop for nearly two hours. I had prepared a dozen ships to kamikaze into Kamela, but when yesterday night was all said and done for me: 42 kills, 0 losses.
I know there have been accusations that we left the Star Fraction POS to die--but we did exactly as we were directed and with fantastic results. Did the POS fall? Yes. Did capitals go down? Yes. Could our small, lagged-out militia fleet have done anything about that? No. So we worked where we could, and the targets just kept coming like salmon up a stream.
The Amarr's mercs and the Caldari did their work for them very well. The Amarr themselves, however, racked up enough losses that ultimately we were able to destroy more isk than the POS and those capitals were worth. And the best part of it all was guarding the location and putting another POS right back up as soon as the field was looted.
Good fight.

LOL dude one carrier loss paid for at least 10-15 BS.....the 2 t3 ships lost by yal was another 30-40 BS paid for EACH.....not including all the BS yal lost.....sorry minmatar and SF lost this fight......stop trying to turn the tables and say yal did. Also you a damn loser. The "lone rifter pilot" named "suicide"? dude get a RL my god. I bet this took you about 2 hours to write and think of a story line......And if as one of the BS that warped to a planet......Due to you fail tackling of a RAVEN u didn't get me. So nice FAIL ATTEMPT again. And btw the smart FC would have fitted yal in SNIPER SHIPS so while the massive blob fighting in the center was going on yal could snipe away BS and other ships....but no u didnt cause you suck at this game and apparently RL from your article you wrote.

This.
Minm militia was ordered by SF to stay out of the main fight. That in and of itself is lulzy.
They needed no orders to suck hard...

Well while it did not take long for angry complaints, trolling and so forth to come out of the wood work one thing i think we can all agree on is that the battle in Kamela was enjoyed by one and all. Many pilots on both sides battled bravely using the tactics that their commanders had decided on.
As in most battles sucess is in the eye of the beholder, but more importantly i feel is that when it was all over i reckon i saw "gf" or good fight being spammed over the open local channel for a good minute by men and women for a good minute if not longer.
So keep your flames and your trolls. I had fun, and i bet even money that you did too.
The Amarrian Alliance achieved their objective of taking down the POS at a cost unknown to me. The Minmatar Militia did what they do best and managed to destroy a great number of their enemy. And Star Fraction well they did what they do, pos goes down, lets put another one up.
I say it again, Good Fight one and all.
To Allies and honoured enemies alike i salute you all for bringing it!
