I've used Eve Search but couldn't find anything. Are there any good nanodrake fits for pvp?

The drake has a horrible starting speed that changes to mediocre with nanos. I can't provide numbers off the top of my head but I'm sure I've made battleships fly faster.
The drake's DPS tanks without 2 or 3 damage mods. It already has low DPS to start with, and not alot of lowslots.
In actual combat the drake doesn't rely on speed. It has one of the toughest sub battleship tanks with the exception of HICs and CS. So using speed to mitigate incoming damage isn't very useful without very high speeds. Heavy missile range is very high. The drake doesn't eed speed to bring the brunt of its dps on the enemy. And while HAMs have long range, you need multiple BCUs and an RCU to make them fit and work. Not much room left for nanos.

"Nano" Drake isn't a nanoship like the nanoCane, because it isn't nearly as quick. But its DPS isn't crippled by falloff, either. I haven't flown a true nano-Drake, but I have flown standard Drakes in the nano style - keeping at range and trying to avoid getting tackled.
The Drake has good agility but poor base speed. Its advantage as a "nano" ship is range-independent, capless weaponry, with high DPS at range - generally much better than a falloff-crippled Hurricane at >20 km. You're not speed-tanking anything, you're range-tanking - staying outside turret optimals, avoiding scramblers for as long as possible, attempting to retain the ability to disengage.
So much for theory, anyway. You can fit a Drake with nanos and aux thrusters, but you lose DPS or tank. Or you can just take a basic PVP Drake and attempt to keep out of scrambler/web range with it. The advantage is here is that, even though you're not nano-fit, you're still faster and much more agile than your common direct counterparts - plated, armour-rigged BCs - while retaining great buffer, full tackle and a general ability to kill quickly things that can easily catch you, such as T1 cruisers.
As for numbers, well, a typical HM Drake with disruptor II has 494 DPS at 24 km, 74k EHP, 1038 m/s and 8.5 s agility. A typical nano-fit Drake could have something 449 DPS at 24 km, 58k EHP, 1257 m/s and 6.4 s agility. Is the extra mobility worth the loss of DPS and EHP? It depends.

Just over 1100m/s with a single overdrive.

600ish DPS out to disruptor range, which is all you really need, and you don't need an RCU to make it fit. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

I have flown and tested a nanodrake on SiSi a while back and I can tell you it is seriously no good...its agility is just not good enough, you swing out too far and it takes forever to adjust ranges.
The dps is not that great either, plus to get a good agility you would actualy need to fit inertia stabs, which are no good combined with LSE's and rigs for resistance.
All in all, you going 1.3km/s and a torp raven STILL hurts becuase your sig is so feckin huge

Edited by: General Coochie on 02/11/2009 16:41:13 nano drake is probably one of the better PvP BCs at the moment if I got it right.
PODLA fly nano drakes and as far as I know they got great results out of them.
Note that as far as nano goes, all you need to be is faster then most BCs and cruisers. Its not like you are building a 2.5kms drake or something. The speed is only to keep advantage long enough to win, not to orbit a t1 cruiser comfortably at 18km. Got Cooch?, solo PvP movie

I live in Molden Heath atm, and if you look around there is a corp called "Pod Liberation Authority" who use nanodrakes.
Main reason they do so well with them is they run HG snakes to reach 2.5km/s and will try to separate your gang and pick you off 1 at a time. Pretty good pilots.

gangs that split up to chase idiots like this and then die to them. does not make the nano drake pilots good. They could use any fast ship to get the same results if not better.

Edited by: Hiroshima Jita on 02/11/2009 19:59:14 Nanophoon is a crap ship because there is no place to put the buffer but it will go 1500m/s easy.
Tempest will go 1400 m/s with 80k EHP. Its still a crap ship but faster than the nano drake. Assuming the nano drake isnt a magical 2500m/s nano drake which I will have to EFT myself to beleive. Are you talking about overheat speeds? LG snakes give a 10% boost with the full set. AN overeated LG drake would go ~1200 m/s * 1.1 * 1.5 ~= 1980 m/s. To hit 2500m/s you would need about a 40% speed increase from a HG set. (2500 m/s / (1200 m/s * 1.5))
Again posting w/o EFT sucks. If the HG set is really that potent I will have to take a long hard look at it.
I haven't looked at seriously fitting a HAM drake recently. I though you needed some fitting mods to make the thing go together. Might only be a pdu.
Edit: Forgot the gangmod. 25% from a mindlinked claymore. The magical nanodrakes would be able to hit 2500m/s overheated with a LG snake set with the claymore in gang. Alternatively a tempest in that situation would sc**** along just under 3 klicks.

I don't get it. Why dual webs, web range = scram range.
A crude assumption would be for anti-tackle. To drag tacklers off and kill them in the intial scrimmage, even if some random troll in this thread have already laughed at the notion of successfully doing that, is a basic tactic in any "nano" gang. The Drake, unlike many other ships pulling off similar strategies, lack natural ability to deal with light tackle (read: Interceptors). So it's very likely the webs are there for Interceptors that burn into range (because you were smart and pushed them into it, when they were under pressure to get a fast initial tackle). Two webs, most likely because one web is not sufficient to stop their inertia from carrying them away (and/or possibly because small ships may be able to sustain damage from HML even with a single web on them). I'm not saying i'd do it like that, but it's reasonable to assume that they do it for that reason.
Tackle can be used both offensively and defensively, just as most electronic warfare.
As some other people have already pointed out in this thread, you don't nano a Drake to orbit or speed tank anything (in fact, you don't nano many ships for that reason today), but rather to maintain range and disengage. What wasn't said is that when i have seen "nanoed" Drakes, the speed modules themselves have not necessarily been there to kite either (this mention of 2.5km/s Snake Drakes is new to me) but rather to make the BC a worthwhile traveling companion to a "nano" gang (in other words, allow it to move with a similar pace as other ships employing the same tactic, in your gang). A Drake is still going to be easier to catch due to a larger sig radius and due to lesser kiting abilities, yet shaving off a couple of seconds on your warp-alignment can be as useful in a small roaming gang (deep behind enemy lines) as having that extra EHP you get from a PDS or DC.
As was also already noted here, by utilizing the advantages of your weapon system you can usually create a better buffer for your engagement range (whenever you have the time to). You are not going to be initial tackler anyway and you are most likely not going to be the primary target either - unless you are the only person a larger hostile gang manage to catch on a gate.

No, webs are longer ranged and offer more benefits firing on small crap.
I still don't see it as viable without snakes though.

Putting aside the question of sarcasm and the identification thereof, that you post a link showing the destruction of a Drake fit with nanos tends to support the conclusion that nano Drakes are junk? I'm not saying that is a strong argument but there is a thread of irony here.

Just because the ship dies is hardly an argument that the ship is crap.
I fly a drake with a single nano around solo and I die a lot. Does that make it a bad ship? No, I die alot because I PVP alot, fly solo and take risks. Sometimes I end up dying horribly because of a mistake I've made, sometimes I end up on top. |

I fit a nano in the lows of my HML pvp drakes, but mostly because my fitting skills are pretty dire.
Starting to get quite fond of it though, the 'agility' (this is relative to a brick) it adds to the Drake is quite nice.

Ran into a couple of these nano drakes trying to kite a blaster-fit hyperion last night and if anything it did make for an interesting battle.
I can see how the tactics of divide and conquer could work, but I can't say that this worked last night. Those drakes should have pwned that battleship but once the 5 of us in t1 cruisers or smaller got into the fight it was over pretty quick with no losses.

A heavy missile drake is very good at this if you have some vagas or intys to tackle the Drakes can pound on the targets from 50km and avoid getting tackled, with the light drones as well it has some advantages over something like a Cerb because the drakes can swarm any small ships with 20 warrior IIs and make them warp or die so they dont pose much threat.

This must be the engagement you were talking about. I can tell you're one of the sharper tactical thinkers milling around this fine game my friend. As Naxias already pointed out the ship is pretty crappy indeed... point proven. Anything that can't take on a gang of 2 fast tacklers, 2 ECM ships and some heavy dps really is not worth flying. Back to the drawing board... oh wai...
