Hey guys, I've got a Lenovo Thinkpad x60 and it has an Intel 945GM. Eve currently does not work for because of my crappy graphics card and was wondering if anyone had a specific fix.
Thanks!

Unfortunately, there is only one fix...
A new computer/laptop.
The graphics power needed by EVE increased with the release of the newest (Apocrypha) expansion. Before that, you probably could have played on that laptop with the Classic (low-quality) graphics client. Now you can't. -- Director of Misfits, Domination Killer, Doesn't Like Bunnies |

My laptop has those specs and EVE runs fine for spinning in station and an occasional mission. The fan spins up rather heavily when I launch EVE though.

Edited by: Lork Niffle on 03/11/2009 16:23:29 The Intel 945 is the lowest model in which you cna play EVE Online until they roll in Shader Model 3 as default which has not yet been announced. This goes along with the Mobility 9000 and Geforce FX 5200 from ATI and Nvidia respectively.
The Intel 945 is a seriously underpowerd chipset especially since it is shipped on poor celeron processors adn thus the shared CPU and Bus time is very limited to begin with.

Nope (unless you can provide evidence).

FYI, Dominion, officially, will not be raising the graphics card requirements. System requirements dev blog for dominion.
In practice, you may find your game less than smooth on underpowered hardware.

The laptop I'm typing on has the same card, and there isn't a real solution unfortunately. The 945GM chipset is probably one of the more craptastic ones available. I suggest you just play on a PC or get a new laptop.
Sorry.

You could probably go even cheaper if you really looked. Just buy something from today with a dedicated graphics card in it and you'll probably be good to go for at least 3 or 4 years on EVE at the very least.

You could get an external GPU box that runs over the ExpressCard 2 port. Then you can use any ati PCIe card. http://www.villagetronic.com/vidock2/index.html I picked one up with out a gpu card for 100$.

Have you looked for new graphics drivers from lenavo? I have the 945GM in my laptop here and although it jolts sometimes eve still works fine. You need the lowest settings etc.
I am not expecting it to work very well(if at all) with Dominion so it looks like I will need to upgrade my laptop
