I'm about to venture into the world of Rorqs and I would like to find out a list of the ways to create deepspace bookmarks. I'm particularly interested in how to create >75 AU BM's, further if possible... further the better.
The ones I know (short and sweet)
1. Get a mission in the area... book mark it. 2. WH... but even those are pretty close to stuff by design
Thanks in advance and feel free to troll away at my lack of knowledge

Do this. And make sure you're afk. A few reds around wouldn't hurt, either.

Ok, after googling several times I also found that if you are in a carrier and assign drones then abandon them in warp they will warp in random directions 100 AU from the star.
Any other ways people know about?

The ones you have listed are the only "Non Exploit" ways of getting deep safespots.
I would like to hear what others have to say about it though, because with the new scanning system in place no ultra deep safespot will make it impossible to scan you out. Only harder...
But after all things considered, wouldn't a POS be far easier and safer? That's where rorq's should be anyways.
My opinions belong to me, you can't have them!

Old WH bookmarks or other expired scanned out sites work ok, but if you do not have a cloak, your dead. They want to find you, they can and will...
Before scanning, we used to get an interceptor with an MWD to the most remote warp in spot. Then pointing straight up or straight down from that spot, hit the MWD and run for hours, occasionally bookmarking as we went. Some people would do that for days just to get as far as possible. As scanning abilities improved, those deep safe spots got scanned out and players ships, cans etc. were stolen and destroyed. You wouldn't believe what some players left in these early safe spots...

Deep Space probes scan out to 256 AU.
Just sayin'

Just a reply to this "Hit MWD and go in one direction as long as you want to":
So let¦s say we can go 15km/s, cap stable, that is 54000 km/h. To cover one AU (150M km for the ease of typing) would need you to run for 2777 hours, that is around 115 days or almost 4 months. However a 1 AU safespot is not that spectacular.
My point is: Could you guys just think a tiny bit before posting such crap?

Send a probe out in the middle of nowhere and then scan down the probe?
Not tried it but I don't see why it wouldn't work. --------------------------------------

The idea was sound back when you could fit dual MWD's to battleships and hit several AU/sec. However, you might want to consider a few things, first of all; I now have one of those annoying sigs. second; you should probably move on to some more interesting things than reading this sig.

It's an interesting idea but i don't think you can get a warpable result on a probe. You can see them with scanning but not warp to them.

There is a way to get a save further out then 250AU. But nobody knows if that displayed limit really applies. Getting banned for sitting at a save that you should not sit at might not be ... err ... save. So you can't do that anyway.

Something that hasn't been possible for over 3 years is not relevant.

Try this, log in / out rapidly 2 or 3 times.
See if you are getting any distance from the nearest warp-able entity.
If not, CCP have tidied up.
Deep safes are not all that safe anyways as someone else already pointed out.

I've tried this a couple times, you only end up maybe ~1au from where you logged out most of the time.

I do plan on jumping from a POS but those intermediate jumps is what are the killers. I was hoping for a really far away cyno on the overview to deter people from ganking me... well off to the drawing board again I guess.

Even at a theoretical 500au safe an interceptor could be on you faster then you could warp the rorq or get far enough from the cyno ship to cloak it...

Edited by: Princess Jodi on 05/11/2009 16:59:54 'Deep Safes' are a term invented back in the day when scan probes gave a Deviation instead of a warpable result. Deep Space Scan Probes had a horrible Deviation, which meant that you just had to scan something small like a shuttle and the Deviation would be so great you'd end up miles deep in space.
You used to have to warp to each result so what you would do is watch the direction you warped, then if it was TOWARDS the body of the Solar System you returned to your spot and tried again. Always warping away from the Sun caused some very deep safe spots. I've got a 320 AU spot in 9cg in Querious from this tactic.
I don't know of any current tactic. Using WH or Mission Sites can have the effect of being out of normal scanner range from a Celeistial, so they have value. They will NOT, however, protect you from Scan Probes.
Edit: And now that I see you're gonna have a Cyno, the whole point is moot. Just don't cyno when anyone in system, use a Recon for a short duration cyno, and cloak.

Its not random. You end up at whatever point they were along their warp path when you clicked warp. If anything you end up with a bad safe since it is in line between two celestial objects.

Deep safes aren't as relevant with the new probing system
Just make a few safes, warp between them and make new safes on the way and you'll be fine against any prober

what are you on about? what he meant is that it is possible, if you have people that have the bookmarks already. *sigh* oh and the other ways, not that they really matter anymore

"Deep" safes only exist on old characters btw.
However there are ways to make pretty long range safes out of the system, but I'm not gonna tell...

This is probably the second dumbest suggestion so far just behind the "Hit MWD and wait" thing.
The drone thing you suggested is probably the best idea though logistically difficult. - |
