How are you going to maintain your large amount of territory with the upped Sov costs and reduced moongold value? It seems to me the big alliances will get Sov claimed on their border systems and deep inside their territory where the isk is made from upgrades and belts, and everything in between will be left unclaimed. If some small unaffiliated alliance tries to get Sov between your core systems and your border systems, you'll just churn them into dust, right?

The small unaffiliated alliance should probably make, you know, diplomatic contact with the large alliance. Most alliances are more reasonable than people give them credit for.

I think you are right, a lot of alliances will probably not claim space under the system because it will be expensive (depending on the final costs per system ofc). But they will destroy anyone weaker who tries to set up shop in 'their' space. Similar to the setup alliances which claim areas of npc space have. |

Until recently, we weren't going to bother trying. Drop sov everywhere except a few central or strategic constellations, let the rest go fallow or offer it up to friendlies.
Since the new economic sov upgrades look like they'll only marginal improvements to the value of space, we'll likely be keeping most of our current territory for the r64s (even with the rebalance, they still provide a good income) and the belts so that the membership still has places to go make money, and shooting anyone who tries to take it away. The sovereignty hubs are fairly cheap to maintain until you start bolting the various upgrades on, so that's not a problem to afford and we can even just drop the sov and leave the moon mining POSs in place if we want to.

They won't leave space unclaimed for the "small guy".
They will find the new XYZ method to rake in ISK by the bucketfuls, then claim all of EVE to grief you so much, people who start threads like this one will be SCREAMING for a server reset. *** Currently Playing: Trolls from Outer Space Current Equipment: VISAcard chain mail, +2 Amulet of Epic Whine, Self Banstick +2 WTB: +666 E-peen killboard stats |

But did you noticed that new upgrade system will require some real activity on them. It is not sayed that big alliances will remove smallest one, as those big alliances for big ISK will need greate activity in their space to have the upgrades and ISK rolling. But that activity requires real players doing those plexes, belts and sites. So I guess (and we will see if) those alliances will need to allow normal ppl do these activities on their territory otherwise they won't be able to upgrade, that means - won't be able to defend, pay for the system.
Also CCP will introduce transition time so big alliances will have time to buy, upgrade and install needed stuff. There are brave ones. And then there are those whom the brave ones will follow. |

Well there's sovereignty and there's space holding. Two different things that may or may not be linked, depending on circumstances.
Just because they don't have a big banner saying they own the space, won't mean they're going to let others just walk in. ______________________ Agony Unleashed is proud to support TeaDaze for CSM |

Edited by: Kim Chubby on 16/11/2009 15:58:26 Edited by: Kim Chubby on 16/11/2009 15:58:07 There is a ton of "waste space" that is in 0.0. r64's, good ratting systems, and areas that are considered "strategic points of interest" will more than likely have the sov stuff in. In the Goon's situation, Scatim's assessment is probably what will be done by most of the groups out there.
I think there will be room for more than enough small groups to stake a claim really. In most cases, the large groups are more than reasonable. I think the most you'd expect from them are raids where they take a pot shot at the sov thing to pick a fight. I don't think any large entity is going to want to waste their time on a "waste" system anyway. They're going to be more concerned with wanting to protect their r64 systems, strategic systems, and ratting systems.
Dominion will be cheaper to run sov for these large alliances in the long, because all the pos's they're going to be using now are going to be directed at the r64's and other stuff like that. The amount of money sunk into sov pos's is a lot when you factor in all the hardeners guns and what not for it. It may not be a lot to those big guys, but it's fundage that can be used for something other than a friggin flagpole in space.
I think it'd be cool for more people in 0.0, will make wars more entertaining. Be more fun in general I'd think.
