The link (which I've highlighted in red) is masked to look like a link to the Eve-Online.com secure login server. It actually diverts you to a .co.cc domain that's designed to record your account details when you log in.
The second E-Mail is a message containing a phony Eve-Online free 15 day re-activation offer for your inactive account, that looks very similar to the official CCP circulated Eve Online newsletter. Its links also take you to a third party site that's hazardous.
Protect your accounts people, don't let these bastards get one over on you.

Nice catch Verone!
Everyone please protect your accounts. There has been no "database error" so don't follow the link in that email! Email is the latest attack venue of the ISK sellers trying to steal your accounts, and if you get a suspicious one disregard it and triple-check every link you click.
If you have questions about the validity of an email don't be afraid to ask on the forums.
You can also check this nifty page to see our current and past newsletters and verify that the email you are getting is real or false. Be aware that not all emails we send out are posted on that page.

I've been getting the 15 day activation offer lately.
Now the weird part, it goes to my email that was never registered to my EVE account as far back as I can remember.

It seems the most likely way they can get your email is if you give it to them, which probably means you have bought ISK from them. So, if you do as Zymurgist says, and report these phishing emails you have received, you may just be queued up for an investigation into your transactions.
I've never received a phishing scam, and I've never bought ISK. Seems to go hand-in-hand. If you haven't bought ISK and are still getting them, I'd be scared.
And I'm not too sure that first one is new. There was an extremely similar one (so similar, I think it was the same one) reported on these very forums during the database issues that were occurring during the Alliance Tournament. This isn't new, it's just left over from then. ------------------------------

I have never bought ISK, yet I receive these on a regular basis. At least 2 a week.

I have never received one either and you bring up a very good practice. Keep a separate E-mail for accounts and one for general use. That way you should NEVER get spam on the account E-mail address as the only people that have it is CCP or some other game you subscribe too.

AS I said, I'd be scared. Wonder what you signed up for, or maybe you're allowing your email to be visible on a popular eve site (which means they just scr.aped the pages for visible emails), or signed up for some third-party forums? They don't just happen to get emails of people that happen to play eve.
PS: CCP, learn how to properly build a language filter. the r-a-p-e in s-c-r-a-p-e-d is not a bad word. It's just ridiculous and programmatically lazy that that even happens. I'll send ya my code if you need it. ------------------------------

My email is available in a crap ton of different places. For instance, people were free to email me during my CSM campaigns.
But most, if not all, of the phishing mails are caught by Gmail. So yeah..

Wow, gee... makes me glad that any mailings I get from eve go directly into my spam/trash folder and I never bother to open them. Especially those concerning petitions that have been closed without ever being reviewed.

Was a story on the BBC news site a few weeks back.
Said that the BBC people had seen lists of lots of stolen hotmail, yahoo, gmail and other email service address/passwords. Tens if not hundreds of thousands of them.
such lists, distributed amongst the various malicious outfits for a few dollars or whatever, would be a source of email addresses for these phishing attempts.

I imagine they get your email address from either 1) you bought isk or 2) they have bots picking up addresses off scrapheap or other evesites.

Its kinda weird how I receive these mails tbh.
They're arriving at my hotmail account, which isn't hard to guess (its my character name @ the UK hotmail domain.)
The strange thing is, I don't use this address for ANYTHING other than MSN, subbing to eve related forums (our corp forums, SHC and a couple of other active Eve forums) and talking to my friends. All my eve accounts are subscribed to my ISP's email address at their domain along with all my sensitive personal accounts for out of game stuff so there's no reason for CCP to send any mail to my hotmail account as they don't even have the address on record.
I wouldn't be surprised if people are having their details lifted from forums and websites relating to eve tbh.

That technique is common practice amongst spammers. They run a bot to capture as many profile emails as possible, then import them into a db that sends out mass mailings. Change your email password on a regular basis, they tend to run bruteforce attacks on the accounts too sometimes. ______________________
