Hai
What happens when a POS runs out of fuel? It's stuff goes offline and it's shields go away, right? If that happens, shouldn't you be able to unanchor it? I've found a few derelict POS's laying around, but I can't unanchor them. I'm kind of confused, because if a POS runs out of fuel, shouldn't it just be up for grabs? I read a post somewhere that someone would look for these derelicts with their Bustard and just scoop them and the loot. Was this changed?
Thanks for your help!

If the tower still stands, no Kill the tower, mods are scoopable after unanchor
If you belong to the corp, then you can just unanchor

Only someone in the corp the tower belongs to can unachor it. Destroy the tower, then you can get the other structures.

The anchoring process is independent of fuel - if it wasn't then your GSCs would need fuel to anchor them.
If you do decide to shoot a tower, make sure you declare war first if it's in high-sec.

Followup question, I was under the impression if the modules around the tower contained items they could not be unanchored and had to be popped for a chance to get the items inside. Correct or incorrect?

Assuming you blew up the tower, if you unanchor the station modules then anything in them will be destroyed, but you get to keep the module. If you blow up the modules instead, then you don't get the module but anything in them has the normal chance of surviving a wreck and winding up in space.
The one major exception seems to be blueprints. If the print was in the lab to begin with and being researched at the time, they won't be lost in the unanchoring process (because they aren't in the lab when you unanchor it. If you then repackage the lab, the prints in research go back where they were before the job started. If that was inside the lab then they pop out in your station hangar. If they were in a corp hangar in an NPC station first they go back to it. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

This is accurate.

Of course nobody would ever put a BPO in a POS Lab except if there is no station in the system - which is not a system i'd do any research in.

False.
However, the more likely someone is to keep a BPO at the POS, the more newbish they are; the more newbish they are, the less valuable the BPO(s) will likely be.
