Edited by: Mrs Snowman on 17/11/2009 10:20:17 I have a question!
Say my standings with the pirate faction is not good enough and I go to one of the other arc-agents that I have empire standings with. What happens if my standings boost from completing the arc gives me enough standing to go with the Pirate agent?... Can I then to the Arc again! Or is it classed as the same Arc and thus comes under the usual repeat restrictions.

99.9% sure it is the same arc.

I like the idea of gunboat missions. It's an expansion on the missions we see in Faction Warfare right now. It's also the type of missions I hope get added all over nullsec with future "Hub upgrades/agents." It's hard to do "Angel Extravaganza" risking your ship for two hours after all.

uuuuuuhhhgggg
ok how about this?
Quote: we decided to focus the missions to be playable by and for Interceptors, although other frigate- and destroyer-sized ships can do these missions as well
On sisi I'm running it just fine in a well fit rifter. Don't see whats so hard about this missions other than being smart in 0.0
anyways someone else in this thread allready agreed with me On my Real Point , I need no further vindication.

You need to know more about how standings work. 30% isn't 3 or 0.3 - its 30% of the difference between current and best/worst possible.
So from -10 a 30% gain is a +6 (30% of the difference from -10 to +10). That takes standings to -4...diplomacy will then take you far enough to be able to run very low level and poor quality agents.

Yes, you can use MWDs in these dungeons. We chose interceptors because of their capabilities in avoiding gate camps and bubbles, and a microwarp drive is certainly a necessary part of that functionality.

So there will be no deadspacepockets?
Deadspace = Space where natural anomalies prevent warping (in). Or will these pockets be special deadspace? Then I dont see the point of Acc. Gates. (Just a silly backstoryquestion ;) )
I like the idea of these arcs, will definitly try them.
Do we get some similar standing-repair-mechanism for empire factions too?

Originally by: CCP Because these arcs are predominantly based in nullsec, we have designed them to account for the play style and dangers that can be found in 0.0
Originally by: CCP Thus, we're making it so that these missions are still challenging yet playable with a PVP-fit
If you could apply this logic to all 0.0 and lowsec missions, you'd be on the right track for breathing new life into these parts of New Eden.
Also, please add an Empire Faction "backdoor" for the other Pirate Factions as well. No Epic Archs needed, just a way to kickstart your road to redemption :)

1. /signed CCP needs to add a better way to search for agents. Even though we will finally have an in-game browser (don't try to claim the existing "thing" is a browser), to use third party websites' agent search utilities, this is 0.0. I kill carebears in Curse. If I wanted to kill carebears even more in Curse, I would make an agent search engine that reported to me when someone was checking the Angel's Arc agents and go camp their path with a few interceptors. Since I would not be doing this 24/7, when I did it, it would be seen as a fluke and no one would be the wiser. If I thought of this while reading the dev blog, someone has probably already made it (or will have it ready for the expansion).
2. To those who claim noobs won't do these missions, noobs rat in Curse already. This will just attract more of them. Even more amusing, they will likely keep coming back to the exact same place after getting popped/podded to try to complete the mission. I'm guessing I'll probably be able to pop the same guy maybe 3-4 times in maybe an hour before he gives up.
3. I will run these (at least the Angels arc). Sometimes you gotsta put on the carebear pants to get the shiny things in life.

Any chance to lower the standing gain, but make it repeatable more frequently? ( ISK/BPC/MOD awards only once per 3 months still ).
For someone who has truly tanked his standings ( like let's say -8 ) to get back to lvl 1 Pirate agents, that would mean Diplomacy 5 and somewhere along the way of 1 year of "redemption".

If my math is correct, a 30% standing gain from -8 brings you up to -2.something, which should work for the bad level 1 agents if you got social skills. But than again it's late my math could be broken. ----------------------------- OMG THE SKY IS FALLING! Contract me all your stuff so I can save it! |

A 30% percent increase to -8 in my math is 2.4. So -5.6 after the first run, next would net you 1.68, so you're down to -4. Then 1.2 gain for the 3rd run, -2.8 now and Diplomacy 5 is what, +2?
Just checked, and lowest lvl 1 is actually around -0.9/-1.0 so 3 runs should be enough if Diplomacy 5 is +2. Still, that's 9 months.
I admit I'm not that knowledgeable about the faction standings math, and how the social skills help numberwise, but I'm fairly certain my example is a best case scenario, and 9 months is a tad much IMO.

You forgot a Social skill that increase you standing bonus. As I remeber even at -10 one completion of Epic Arc with social 5 and Dimplomacy 5 is enough to allow you usage of bad level 1 agents.

I can see it now. There is a dev grinning from ear to ear, humming HTFU and implementing the AI that will scramble and web any interceptor in the mission.
I better keep a couple more Crows than usual on standby, just in case.

*EDIT* Apparently, according to the sisi feedback thread, +30% + Social 5 is enough to take you from -10 to -2.5, and Diplomacy 5 then the rest up to 0.0... No idea how the math adds up to get those numbers, but at least it appears that the objective for CCP is to allow one Epic Arc to get you into lvl1 range of that faction. That's all I need to know :)
-10 +6(30%) +1.5(social 5) = -2.5
Diplomacy 5 (at -2.5 standing) is +2.5 to standing.
So, with both Social 5 and Diplomacy 5, someone with completely tanked standing can reach a 0 in standing with one epic arc.

That sounds like a very nice idea! The mentioned mission btw is a favourite one of mine (together with Racerous Researcher and that Mysterious sighting - perhaps a follow-up to each of those might be an interesting idea as well?). This and Peryner does have a point there saying there should be an in-game way of locating those agents (perhaps something like the intro mission to the Sister's Arc with that Smuggler's Note... ).
/edit: This arc does sound quite interesting though. So thankx for all the work and thoughts put into it!
