Hi, I am trying to play EVE via remote desktop, but Direct 3D or OpenGl applications are not supported by Logmein. The only way I see is to switch EVE to software render mode. does anyone know how to do it?
Thanks!

EVE has no software render mode. Just make a local install.

You can run eve in software mode in linux/wine. You will get around .01 FPS., so there ya go.

Run the client before you launch Logmein...and it will actually *work*. It may or may not be playable depending on connection speed, though. This bypasses EVE's OpenGL checks and other such things.
Another option is to try VNC plus a VPN like Hamachi; it will allow EVE to launch, although it's still slow anyway. On another note, I also have an annoying sig.

Yeah, no need for a VPN though, just do a direct connect. I would assume EVE needs to be in windowed mode.

Thank you guys for rapid responce. I use LogmeIn. I run EVE before launching logmein, and EVE i sin windowed mode. But it's just black screen.
I have the same problem with 3d stutio max. But i can switch it to software mode and it works.
May be there is another remote desktop program that supports DirectX graphics?

This file will bypass the remote desktop check. Mainly used for debugging, but works.
If you kill the cmd window it opens it will kill the game.
using real "remote desktop" seems to allow you to render is much easier then crappy "logmein"

I use http://www.teamviewer.com from work myself, bypasses proxy and all.. and very easy to set up.. it does all the port forwarding itself.
fps is quite poor tho.. but have managed some hauling trips etc.

VNC, if you can use it. Last night I set up my Droid to VNC into my home system so I can access files (and Eve) remotely. Works like a champ. Using RealVNC Server, FWIW.
Tried RDP first, but RDP can't handle DirectX applications (from what I found online).

Now that I'm home, I tried running this file via RDP. The command window crashes and fails to completely load via RDP. If I run the evefile.exe from the actual desktop, it works fine.

Edited by: Xander Hunt on 27/11/2009 04:23:22 I use LMI to log into my home machine, run EVE after logging in, and I get the full GUI in windowed mode. FPS isn't all that great while warping, but, for market details and such where your work is in a station, it will work.
Edit: Question though, which emulation are you using? I typically use LMI under FireFox in Windows. Just recently LMI has updated their software to run effectively the same in Linux FF as it does in Windows FF. I do NOT use IE, nor the Java emulator.

You can create a virtual machine using VMware server and tweak the config file to use the experimental direct x support. You then pop open the virtual machine via the web console on what ever machine you are wanting to manage it from.
