CCP Navigator; This wouldn't be as hot a topic if we could get an explanation as to why CCP Abathur's very well received ideas were discarded two and a half weeks before Dominion, without announcement (somebody noticed it on Sisi), and have been replaced by CCP Nozh with very.... different... ideas.
You got that answer between the blue lines some time ago in a previous feedback thread to a previous devblog.
Players do not decide game design changes.
In a way that is correct, but since CCP adopted SCRUM it might be an idea to get the manual and look up the concept and impact of the stakeholder group in SCRUM development.
Effectively speaking what you see here is clear display of CCP not implementing SCRUM except for the little tasks, once it hits the big picture level they are still bumping into the old syndrome of little kingdoms making the kind of arbitrary decisions which in the past have already led to major upheavals.

This entire Dominion patch is the definition of "Excellence." The type of excellence that SOE would be proud of, but in this case you've taken changes that the playerbase were generally happy with, then 2 weeks before the changes completely redid them. Even when SOE pushed out NGE they could at least say it was a bad idea from the start that killed their game, whereas you've taken a lot of good changes and turned them into garbage to try to torpedo your big expansion.
This is now shaping up into an excellently horrible update in which you overpromised and apparently are going to way under deliver, what with pushing assfrigs back as well and nerfing the titan bonus changes which actually would have had them on the field in big fights. Everything Nozh has done has been excellent if your goal is to throw away every positive change you made with super caps.

Many people have payed years on this game for specific accounts to run motherships on top of their other main accounts. They cannot take these characters, leave their ships and go off and play around in a recon ship or battleship. Now CCP is releasing a patch where faction ships are superior to motherships and titans can go up to motherships and go BOOM to them with their giant lasers.. And we are supposed to just stick around expect to pay our sub fees for 6 months while CCP pays this? No CCP should be offering mothership owners free subscriptions for the next 6 months or however long it takes for them to fix this since CCP is now making their accounts/ships totally useless in the in-game environment. That or refund refund peoples sub fees for their super capital characters entirely as well as the isk invested in the supercapitals themselves.

Over the years SOE and CCP have always had two things in common: Incompetence at game balance and cheating developers.
This is just keeping the trend alive.

At fanfest, CCP made a big production about how their new corporate rallying cry for this year was 'Excellence'. They showed videos and even had that delightful little rap-rock "HTFU" thing proclaiming their solidarity as a company and the quality of their work.
Does someone who does not comprehend basic aspects of capital warfare - or even ewar mechanics - being in charge of the capital dev portfolio represent CCP's 'Excellence'?
As much as I'd like to simply post lil dude and talk about how wonderful - or shall I say 'excellent' CCP Abathurs changes were - how delightful it was to see a transparent, two-way feedback process between devs and players on Sisi - this blog forces the question.
Where's the excellence?
An excellent company would sit down, put a team on capitals and work every night until dominion to give motherships a role this patch, give titans a reason to exist, fix capital missiles, and figure out how to not break the naglfar.
Lets see what ccp does. I hope it doesn't involve target painting.

He and you missed something.
The "excellence focus" was the "post Dominion" focus, when CCP starts to develop more products within the EVE universe, interconnected yet seperate commercial products, leaving less time and resources for EVE, and thus the switch to less large expansions with less extensive feature sets but with a higher focus on the quality of those feature sets.
This was the manager talk about "EVE Forever". EVE will continue, but since they will expand on product lines it will receive less attention and focus then thusfar. To compensate for that they will continue to deliver free expansions, just smaller ones, with less stuff, but small pieces of good shiny which will be introduced "perfect".

Dear CCP,
First off, I am interested to find out whether or not this post gets deleted because someone deemed it unconstructive. Let's find out, shall we?
This expansion of yours is not going well, is it? I mean, things get cut, developers out of their official league and a united playerbase opposing the new shiny.
I am impressed the basic DENY, DENY, DENY is still in existence. Historically, book burning is not viewed as an impressive fiat. (Yes, I did, thanks for wondering.) Is this expansion roll out locked in? Do you absolutely have to do it? I mean, by my admittedly terrible understanding of this game, all the positives in Dominion have been culled and idiocies thrashed in to replace them, to take their place alongside all the other idiocies.
Bluntly, at this point, you have nothing positive to show for your expansion. Nothing to point to and proclaim, "WE FIXED THAT!" Are all your current developers tenured? Are your offices awash with golden handcuffs?
This expansion has been blighted by ideas that bear no resemblance to current or projected playability. I can only surmise that you want to be the laughingstock of MMOs. Truly, your ability to make the same mistakes over and over again leaves me astounded, astonished, bewildered and impressed. Even I'm not that dense and I have a whole pile of breathtaking stupid to call my own.
Ideally, you should delay the expansion while you sort out elbow from anus. Maybe that isn't possible, we all of us have restrictions. Good God though, you can certainly manage to swap out Nozh for someone with a basic understanding of capitals and above and the way they are used.
Take a quick look back at your eve history - has deny, deny, deny worked for you?
I can only hope that there are people in the company who already pointed out the flaws that we, the playerbase, are pointing out and being censored for. Feel free to censor or fire those employess as well, unless you are determined to add hypocrisy to censorship. This is an internet game, after all, it's not like this might spill over to other parts of the internet that you cannot censor.
Above all, LEARN. You keep seeming to learn and then you go and do something like this.
Honest question, would you, theoretical employee of CCP, put up with this treatment?
Explain why should we?

You have almost everyone fervently against it, and then you have the few people that are very misguided/messed up in the head. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Brought to you by the letter ARRR!" |

No, you have to punch through the marketing and executive talk.
They will maintain EVE, deliver expansions, but those will be smaller but better (although just going by features of Dominion that truly survive I wonder how small yet shiny such new expansions will have to be). Excellence has nothing to do with the expansion, but all with the marketing. Call it painting the house shiny, but it's just an appartment so it is easier and quicker to paint.

What have we learned today?
The angry voice of the EvE community was heared and granted motherships are shelved for 3-12 months but, they are still a symbol of pride and elitism.
Of course now every mom pilot is going to run and hide from titans, unless there is another hp buff that we miss.
Personally I would rather have them shelved rather than being butchered.
I do have mixed feelings though about this decision, I am sad that we wont to see scarey moms of doom out on the field, but I am also glad nothing was taken away from pilots honor from this.

just scrap Dominion or even Eve-Online. Every time ya'll have some oen that know what they are doing you change personal and make this game more like SWG or WOW. At least let some one how starts something finish it and have it implamented before you take him else where and scrap all the good changes he is amking and leave all the have thought through ones. CCP has been up untill this point found ways to make eve better to keep ppl comign intot he game and playing and enjoying the game. now it looks like it is goign to be another yr before they might as well shut down because of hte incompadence and idiocy of a NEW Dev. With the lack of thought going into these changes and implimenting some and not others and makign things usless after tons of isk been put into them. Time, ISK and resources drive eve online. You make changes that make it not worth ppls time to build pilot nada use things in eve the eve econamy is goign to slow down to crash and what then? Blame the pilots caues they are not flying ships ect.
You have taken ships that were powerfull and nurfed them to useless chunks a ton of timesa nd I think ppl would have figured by now ya'll would have learned something but apaently not.
