A lot of competitive players, no matter what the game, have their superstitions. Wearing 'lucky' clothes, no shaving while on a streak, etc.
What are your superstitions in EVE? Personally, I never undock a ship without naming it first. Every single time I have, the ship is dead in under an hour. Every single time. So I'll name it, even if I'm just moving it to a different station to outfit it. I'll name it Transit, NOD (No Official Designation), Bertha, anything, but it's gotta say something besides NyteTyger's Velator... um, I mean Moros, yeah, that's what I meant, NyteTyger's Moros!
Anyone else got one? |

Prayer to Chribba before activating a mining laser on a Veldspar 'roid. Prayer to Karttoon before undocking in a mining barge or exhumer or when anchoring a highsec POS. Prayer to the EVE RNG before activating an ECM module or delivering an invention/RE job. Prayer to the internets and their holy prophet your ISP, also to your local power company before engaging in PVP. Prayer to the time flux capacitor before posting on EVE-O forums. Prayer to your wallet before checking SiSi changes.

I don't really have any for general gameplay...
But my good friend Zostera can back up the remedies found for the "jump bug" during that terrible week or so it was around... Cycle your mwd, spin the view 1.5 rotations horizontally, turn brackets off, target the gate then unlock it, stuff hamsters down your pants and spin in a circle whilst clapping your hands and then jump.
Worked almost every other time. |

Back in the day before invention, covert ops cloaks were worth about 80 million ISK. There was a superstition that the cov ops cloak would ALWAYS be destroyed with the ship. ---------- There is always a choice. The choice might not be easy, nor simple, nor the options be what you desire - but, nevertheless, the choice is there to be made. |

Not sure if I'd call them superstitions, but I also never undock a ship without naming it, and I never change a ship's name once it has been named. ~ Santiago Fahahrri Galactic Geographic |

I bring spare ozone in all of my jump-capable ships. A lot of cyno pilots are ******ed and don't bring enough for a second cyno. Stranded capitals are dead capitals.
I never trade with people via right-clicking them in the Guest list or local window. Those tend to move too fast and there's a good chance of giving free stuff to the wrong person without realizing it.

That's not a superstition but a hidden feature. Your weapons do 20% more damage and your sheild and armour resistences get a 20% buff with an exotic dancer in your hold. "I wonder if I'll have enough time to warp out before I get CONCORDOKKENED? .... I guess not...." - me |

Glad to know it's not just me. I swear CCP has hidden some code in there that lowers your resists and gives a damage modifier to whoever is shooting you if your ship hasn't been named. __________________________________________

My low slots must balance. Plates the center low-slot, Damage Control to the left and other module on right. Can't shake the feeling the ship feels sluggish if loaded wrong. |

Back when i used to fly rocket crows all of the time, i'd pack 2000rounds of Thorn.
If i took any less i'd always run out and have to return to get more. If i took any more, i'd get blown up before having used any where near 2000.
Superstitions are of course based on you noticing things, and remembering every other time it happened, and forgetting the many more times it didn't happen and making a pattern out of it in your head. But i'm pretty damn sure this happened almost all of the time. ------

Nah. Its because pirates can either work out who you are and therefor how old your char is, or they just see it unnamed so they assume your are a noob and hunt you.
