I have 4 separate client directories on my pc and today after the second downtime only 1 works.
The other 3 will start but other than the the program being listed unter the task management and hearing the sound, nothing happens. On the desktop it looks as the client is minimized.
Any suggestions or tips to resolve this besides downloading a new client?

Yesterday evening around DT (I can't remember whether just before or just after) my client would start fine, but did as described above if I tabbed out or let my computer go into standby mode.
Then this morning and this afternoon it does the same when I start it up as well as after minimising it. I run Eve in windowed mode
I was thinking I just try re-installing my client but I don't want to lose settings. But I can't remember what files / folders do I need to copy/paste to save settings?

Me too, was on before dt and had logged in and out several times. Now it tells me incompatible version.

Looking good... :)

Well I finally gave up and downloaded the client 3x.
Now it works again.
Would still like to know whether there had been an easier method of repairing this.
