Right, so we are eager to see Dominion online but it's nearly not as big of a 'wow' as Apoc or some of the previous expansions. Yeah nice new Sov system, system upgrades, finally an OK browser and mailing system. I don't wanna sound the whining bug who needs to smashed but I am a little disappointed. I was sort of expecting a little more. Maybe in half a year, with the next expansion. So what's gonna be in that one? Planetary interaction, walking in station, blow your mind kinda stuff or another UI tweak, some minor adjustments just to keep people interest alive?

It seems like CCP are doing a lot of "from the gound up" redisigns of EVE. They did the graphics, Sov, Faction ships, browsers, mail, caps(in the process) and many other systems in EVE.
It looks like they're simply going though the eve client, component by component, and redesigning them. Which is GOOD. It allows them to fix MANY wrongs that slowly accumulated as eve evolved.
They may not be adding anything "new" to the game this round, but what they've done is redone one of the more integral parts of EVE, and it's the part that makes EVE... well.. EVE.. The sov system.
Maybe next round they'll redo the Asteroid system, and we'll actually see system circling asteroid belts.

Happy carebears with the circling belts ehh? Yeah it's funny how these forums work, but this is EVE for ya, ruthless... Anyway, from that perspective, yeah , I guess Dominion is a good step towards some bigger things, I was just kinda expecting more. What they have done is GOOD as you put it but nothing too exciting now, is it? Yeah the sov system might give a bit of headache here and there but again, CCP have given a few weeks of grace time to alliances. That should be enough to establish sov where they want to. Ok, I am done whining

Whats next? In the long run I think Dominion is the beginning of "one day" flying down to a planet with no loading screen using procedual programming similar to Infinity. Stations will be moved closer to planets. I feel we are now on the eve on what this game can become within the theme and design of New Eden.
But what is next for now? Interactions with planets.

Originally by: CavoFury1 It seems like CCP are doing a lot of "from the ground up" redesigns of EVE.
This and also the new browser stuff heralds greater goodness coming soon™ If what I'm told is correct and much of the UI like chat windows, overview etc are essentially IGB hacks* (c/d?) then awesomeness should be imminent.
